More ThreeWave/CCTF Unification News
Posted by dekard @ 12:16 EST

(From chillin @ Threewave)

As promised, ThreeWave and Classic CTF would like to invite everyone on our mailing list to take part in a public beta test of a new map currently in production by Scancode + Slash named "Cold Crossings" [screenshots] on Saturday, February the 17th. It's never been seen before, but it's sure to be a hit. The map will be made available on Saturday at Noon PST and a server will be set up for this test starting at 4pm PST. You will be e-mailed as to where you can download the map and the ip of the server, so make sure you're on our mailing list.

Your comments and suggestions will be used to help improve this level and will also be used to improve the ThreeWave/Classic CTF Unification project as a whole. For the people that file the best 'beta reports' we will be giving away a couple of positions for the private beta tests of the ThreeWave levels, and if Chris Donahue's package for Casey ever arrives [cough] we'll have some Nvidia stuff to give away too. To participate all you need is your e-mail address on our mailing list, a copy of Quake III and the first ThreeWave CTF level pak. Any questions regarding this public beta test can be answered by myself via email at chillin@threewave.com

Pick up April's PC Gamer!!
Posted by dekard @ 9:08 EST

A little magazine called PC Gamer will be posting a little blurb on the Threewave/Classic CTF Unification Project in the April edition of PC Gamer in the 'Eye Witness' Section of the magazine. Should be pretty cool!!

I am working on getting some screenshots of maps/beta levels etc.. to put into a screenshot collage for everyone's perusal this week. So, keep your eyes peeled!

New CCTF MLS Server
Posted by dekard @ 8:57 EST

We have the new CCTF MLS up and running the DNS has been updated on our side, just awaiting the ISP to do their part. If you'd like to add your server to the MLS now just update your configs to:
seta sv_master4 208.152.157.135
(after DNS'ing it will be)
seta sv_master4 cctf.clanservers.net

You can also see the list of servers at: http://208.152.157.135:27950
After DNS'ing it will be http://cctf.clanservers.net

I was going to wait to announce it until after the DNS'ing but a few of you had questions about it's whereabouts and if we needed a new one. So here is your answer. Thanks for your patience.

2.0 Status Update and Request
Posted by dekard @ 4:20 EST

Well, 2.0 is a touchy subject around here, we have alot going on, and not many updates lately. (too busy kicking our own arses on getting this stuff done!!) We are working closely with the ThreeWave crew on making our maps Threewave compatible and their maps CCTF compatible, and a few more small surprises, as you may have noticed, I did post a screenshot last week with my desktop of textures I was working on for the new ThreeWave and Classic CTF logos. You can view it here.

On a sad note, the riggers of the schedule we have been on has been pretty rough, we have all been a bit grumpy with each other, with the grapple politics, rune look debates, beta testings, and other things internally, we can sometimes lose focus of our goal, while alot of pressure has been on hb0mb to model a few things his spare time has been alot less then what he would need to continue working on our hectic pace on getting 2.0 out the door and into testing. He resigned his modelling position today, and we would like to sincerly thank him for his hard work and time that he has put into the mod.

On a up note, since we are a modeller short we now have an opening for a modeller on the team. If you have decent skills in the modelling department and would like to join up with the Classic CTF mod group, send Whiplash an email, please let him know of any prior modelling experience you may have, maybe a URL showcasing some of your work, or examples that he may peruse while making his decisions on our new modeller. Spots will go fast so send in your email today!!
