What is Rocketland Mod?

Rocketland is a server-side quakeworld mod. This means it is possible to set up a quakeworld server which players can connect to and get everything they need downloaded directly to their client. There is no need for players to go get a pak file before they can play the mod. Rocketland is based on Madador and still has Runes, Sounds and the Snper rifle. Rocketland has greatly improved the hook, added Voting, Capture the Flag and Rocket arena support. Most recently Rocketland added Frikbots so players can connect to your server and frag the bots (or GET FRAGGED by the now much-meaner bots).

To play Rocketland, a player joins a server running rocketland and is hit with sound and model downloads right away. The good news is that these downloads add up to less than all but the smallest map files, or less than 260K.

Why did I call it Rocketland? Well, Quake I weapon balance favors the rocketlauncher. Matador did nothing to change this fact. When I extended Matador, I was tempted to make it even worse, but decided to leave the weapon balance alone and give server admins the ability to do things like "replace all those pissant nailguns with rocketlaunchers". Sick? Heck yeah!

Highly Configureable

Everything in Rocketland is configurable at three levels. First, server admins can set variables to control things. Secondly, map authors can put in variables on the worldspawn entity to control things. Lastly, server admins can let the players control things via voting.
