It is with great sadness that I announce the closing of The Cineplex.
I opened this site more than 3 years ago as just a small listing of all the Quake movies I could find, and it quickly snowballed into something larger than I could ever imagine. I never really wanted to review movies, but rather provide a listing of every single Quake movie made.
Reasons for closing? A few. First and foremost, I have become increasingly busy due to increasing responsibilities, such as family matters, my social life, and school. I have to devote most of my time to those things. Secondly, the slow death of the old Quake Movie community. In the beginning, I ran this site passionately, updating constantly with news about upcoming movies, and reviews of just released ones. The community is still going strong, but not as strong as it use to. With less and less news and movie releases to cover, this site has slowed down in the area where it excelled at covering. I really miss the days of when Quake was the only game people used to make movies with. There wasn't machinima, there were Quake movies and nothing else.
Enter Machinima.com, these guys have done a great job of spreading the word of Machinima, and getting Machinima more publicity, and will probably continue to do so well into the future. I wish them the best of luck.
I would like to thank everyone that I've ever met and talked to, I appreciate the conversations that we've had and would consider you all good friends. I would make a list of you all, but it would be way too long and I'm pretty sure I'd leave some of you out. So to those of you, thanks for everything, you know who you are.
I would also like to wish everyone in the Machinima community the best of luck in their upcoming projects. I will continue to follow the news and look forward to your new movies.
Another Huge Thanks to everyone who has ever visited my site, I've really appreciated it. Without you, the visitor, I would have never run this site as long as I have.
This site will no longer be updated, but all the content will remain here as long as PlanetQuake keeps it here.
Finally, I'd like to end with some classic quote from an old philosopher or something, but I've always thought that was kind of cheesy and clichéd. So I'll end by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and good luck to all of you in the future.
It's been a fun ride,
