How big and bad can it be?

Game box quality? Hmmm..

The Alliance Games crew is getting ready to release their 3.0 version later today and players should get ready for some flag grabbing action like they've never seen. After getting rave reviews of earlier versions, this Quake III mod has kept going to fine tune the art of teamplay in Q3. Whether it's CTF in multiple flavours, or some Team Dm with the teamplay features galore, you'll really enjoy the full feeling of Alliance. I still say it's like getting a "free mission pack" for Quake III.

The levels, and there's fourteen new ones with this release, pack in even more variety of outstanding quality than ever before. A mix of community maps have been added with some so new and highly rated, I'd be surprised if you haven't seen them around. Hell, there's even a couple great remakes in the pot to make some of us older flaggers feel right at home. Each level was picked, tweaked or made for the kind of gameplay options Alliance offers, which is grapple intense. Sure you can option it out, but the Alliance CTF game is famous for it's grapple action.

As you'll see in some of the pics (hang on a sec!), the mod screams "pro" from it's loading screen to the final score where stats and awards are all lovingly displayed. The handy dandy top-down map available in the HUD to keep track of yourself, your teammates and flag situations has become a staple in this mod and as you'll see, it's back in full force. The HUD and UI for the mod have been tweaked out to the max making it as easy to start a game as to join one. That's gonna help 'cause creating a game with some bots is something you have to try after you download this mod. I mean have to!

The Alliance bots are something...kinda different. They've been loved, cared for and grown by the crew into something you won't be used to in Quake III. These bots grapple, they hide, they bounce and they don't use just one route into a base! Tyue'll also coordinate attacks and rallies. These are some smarty bots, yessir! With the radio commands (and they love the radio baby!) it'll feel like you're playing online. Let a bot be the leader and you'll get a battle plan, timing and even encouragement when you've done well! Thank you momma bot.

I asked Mr. White of Alliance what he thought what would be the biggest grabber for the players with this release, besides the maps of course. After shouting, screaming and getting really ticked there wasn't a soapbox handy, he calmly replied, "I think the new gametype, Hold the Flag will be popular. It ought to be. It kicks major ass! I also think the bots are better than any seen before. Plus it looks cool".

Before ya head off to the upcoming pic page, I guess I should rate the release as simply as possible. I could use a 1 to 10 scale and rate aspects of the mod to come to a final numeric value. Or I could just tell you the truth. Alliance v3.0, yup, it's a keeper. If you like to have fun in games, and Quake III is your game, grab Alliance. If you don't like games, move along and close the door on your way out. Me, I'll be checkin' out some servers with this bad boy.
