Be Our Guest
PQ is hittin' Fragtopia, and you can join us!
As I mentioned late in April, I'll be throwing my next LAN party in with the guys of FRAGtopia 2001, an event I attended last year (article) and was pretty happy with. This year's FRAGtopia 2001 will again be held in the roomy Orangeville Curling Club in Orangeville Ontario Canada, north of Toronto.
The list of players and the selected games has grown this year, and PQ is handling the Quake III tournaments. I mean all of PQ baby, 'cause Ash and Will are winging their way to the action. To celebrate our first actual face to face meeting and Q3A event together, we'd like to have a PQ reader join in on our fun. Here's what you have to do to "be our guest".
First make sure you can come to the event, and if you can't please don't enter and take away from someone who would be attending. Next, write us a minimum of 50 words on why you want to go to the event, have us pay your full entrance fee and hang with the PQ crew. You'll even get dinner out of the deal, but it probaly won't be a romantic affair sitting on Ash's knee being hand fed lobster. Whatever we have for dinner, you get for free, and since Will no longer eats Monkey Chow, it should be OK. You'll also stand out in the crowd with a brand new GameSpy t-shirt. Not bad eh?
Fully paid two day admission to the event.
Dinner on us!
FRAGtopia 2001 cranks up the action June 2nd and 3rd with all the details available on the FRAGtopia 2001 site. Anyone who doesn't work for GameSpy is eligible to enter and win, so tell us your tale!
We've got our winner! From the list of readers who entered we've chosen "Kathrean" to be Our Guest at FRAGtopia 2001 event with us paying her entrance fee, a dinner and a free shirt. Here's her enrty so you can all see just why we picked her to be Our Guest.
Top ten reasons why Catherine Craig , 'Kathrean' should be awarded the prize package:
10- She has studied her ass off in university for 4 years and finally earned her degree… All the while working full hours AND finding time to Quake as she could.
9- LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Being situated in the southern peninsula of the Ontario province She is delighted to have the opportunity to finally attend a LAN party.
8- Did I mention that she has never attended any LAN parties or Frag Fests? Why waste the opportunity on someone who has "been there done that".
7- She has no illusions of grandeur She can easily admit that she sucks. But it takes a determined attitude to keep on playing, even when she gets shot down the moment she materializes.
6- She is so passionate about Quake III, that she has the emblem tattooed on her right shoulder… This is a sight to see, but something that no one would see if she is not present.
5- She is a political person greatly involved in the debates surrounding many issues. As a player of quake she puts all her politics behind and unites the world through shrapnel.
4- Did I mention that her game needed a lot of improvement? The opportunity to watch some great players and get some good pointers could help her develop some kicker skills.
3- She never wins any contests and was hoping her Tim Horton’s "roll up the rim" cups would give her an Aztek so that she could airbrush the Quake III symbol on the front, YEAH!
2- She is currently employed as a Social Worker, Quake being her method of letting off steam after a VERY exhausting day, It allows her to vent frustrations in a HEALTHY and mature way.
1- And the final reason she should be allowed to attend this Fragtopia party is that she is dying to meet the PQ staff, To ask Mynx a couple of questions of her own, to chit chat with the pro’s and to learn a couple tricks. Besides, to have the entrance free would be the only way she could convince her significant other, to allow her to attend such a "dumb game event".
Thanks for the entries gang, and we hope to see you all at FRAGtopia 2001!
