Homing Rocket to the rescue!
Pappy: What have been the hardest goals to achieve to date, and do you have them licked or still on the drawing board?
WolfHead: Well to balance the RPG system is a little bit problematic. Each player is playing differently and we only can balance it to our style of playing. But i think we got it fine for everybody now. =)
Another thing which is still left on our "to-do" list are the bots. These won't be easy to program...
Pappy: Was it difficult getting a team together, and are you still looking for help?
WolfHead: Oh yes... the team =). Well we started with 3 people in the team and quickly got help from more people who wanted to do maps, models, textures and so on. So we had been 7 people when beta 1 was released. After the release, some members seemed to have thought "that's it" and got inactive. Many words, short story ; we are now three people left in the team. One programmer, one PR-Guy and one mapper. But we prefer it this way now, only with a few members, which are really motivated and are spending much and good work on this mod.
Of course if someone wants to help us and also has some nice ideas for the mod, he or she can still join the team.
Pappy: What do you think are the strongest points or features about your project that will attract players?
WolfHead: Well there are not that many sport mods for q3a available. Apart from FBA there only exist Gridiron, Q3Pong, Demonic Soccer and Proball. that's all i think. Which differs FBA from the others, are such features like the Freakgates, the Killerball, Freakjumping or the speed for example. You also won't find a similar RPG system in any other mod today.
Pappy: How open do you think you are to community suggestions, and have there been many?
WolfHead: We are reading and thinking about each message board entry or mail we get concerning FBA. Some things e.g. the classicFBA option or the powerbar are ideas which came from the players.
I hope we get much feedback after the release, so we know what the players want the mod to look like. We want the mod to make fun, not only for us, but also for all the other players. So if someone got cool ideas, just mail us!! =)
Pappy: Why did you choose the Quake 3 engine for your work?
WolfHead: Just easy. I liked the ZIP packed PK3s =). You will laugh, but that's in fact really one of the first things I liked on Q3A-editing. Apart from this nice pack system, all necessary tools that you need to modify a game are available for Q3A in mostly a damn good quality. First of all of course Radiant, which is I think the best Level editor around for FPS games.
Pappy: If you could have anything you want happen with the project, what would that be?
WolfHead: We want many many people around the world playing FBA on many servers out there. If there will be more then 10 non-private FBA-server running day and night, I think this would be cool.
