Match 1C - Round 1

Final Score

Hellchick: 3
Sluggo: 24

The Winner

Comments: I'd only played twice on this map before, so I wasn't sure how I'd do in this match. However, I've played Hellchick many times before, and was confident I'd emerge victorious, despite her cocky pre-game demeanor.

Sure enough, this match was over within 5 minutes -- I think it was 10-2 -- and after 11 minutes I think the server op pulled the plug early to spare Hellchick, PQ and GameSpy massive humilation at the hands of a lonely underdog.

Seriously, I think Hellchick had a bad game -- I've seen her play much better, and would expect her to win a match or two in the loser's bracket. I think it helped me to warm up against her beforehand and watch some of her tendencies. Unfortunately, she'll have to play Pappy or Ash before a possible rematch, so I think her boasts of revenge may prove premature.

<shameless self promotion>

I'll also say this for the the hordes of fans at home who gave me little chance: I said from the beginning that I was shooting for the 3 v 4 game during the FFA qualifier; I said I would win my first match comfortably, earning a comfy "bye" in the second round; I even predicted pregame that Hellchick would get a lone 3 frags. And EVERY one of those predictions has come true.

So Ash, Pappy -- ph34r.

</shameless self promotion>

Wait -- I think I just fragged Hellchick again.

The Loser

Comments: Well, I have to say, I didn't expect to get QUITE as 0wn3d as I did. And the worst of it was that during the warm up I wasn't doing as badly. My problem, as Pappy deftly pointed out, was that I was often going right at Sluggo, fresh spawn and all. Adrenaline, you know. I have to learn to play more conservatively.

But don't worry, supporters - I'll have my revenge in the loser's bracket. I expect to play in the final match up!

Poll Comentary and Match Summary

This is the kind of thing you like to see in a good face-to-face poll. Check out the lead Hellchick has over Sluggo. Yeah, well NOT! Sluggo mopped the floor with Hellchick in this go 'round. After about 20 minutes of problems getting the server to a playable state (thanks for the patience), these two began to butt heads. Heavens to Betsy, Sluggo delivered a magical performance of skill and aggression. He knew the map - and very well. He controlled the Red Armor, the key item on this level. Hellchick managed to drop a few death blossoms unto the mighty Sluggo, but to no particular avail. Of the three matches, I'd have to say this was the biggest upset. Hellchick was the obvious favorite here and I am starting to get the feeling that Sluggish, I mean, Sluggo has been holding out on us. With a final score of 24 to 3, Sluggo gets the cookie. And as for Hellchick, she gets to squander for crumbs in the loser's bracket. A damn gg.
