Match 3B - Round 3

Final Score

Ash: 18
Sluggo: 12

The Winner

Comments: It was a surprising match. I started off very strong, and took a very quick lead. However, after realizing just how far ahead I was, a couple quick kills by Sluggo got me out of my routine, and I started to play really out of character (I almost forgot to pick up armor, heh heh). Luckily, I regained my senses and started playing smart again for the end of the match. It was a good game, and Sluggo made a very good run to try and take the lead. I look forward to seeing who is going to be playing me for the championship.

The Loser

Comments: I'm not sure how I feel about this match. It started out horrible -- two minutes had barely elapsed, and Ash was already up 8-0. He definitely laid back during the pre-game warmups, which I think was a good strategy -- he completely caught me off guard at the start of the match.

However, I feel pretty good that I was quickly able to adapt to Ash's tactics and -- despite being down 9-0 and 10-2 on an extremely unfamiliar map -- was able to come all the way back and eventually tie things up at 12. I made one or two mistakes in the final minutes and let the match get away, but if nothing else, I'll be far more ready for Ash should we meet in the finals.

In the meantime, my own strategy for the tourney has worked out pretty well. Even though I lost the winner's bracket final, I still only need to win one game to get in the championship -- and I feel much better about my chances on the other maps. Hellchick, Pappy -- bring it!

Poll Commentary and Match Summary

According to the public opinion poll, Ash had darn near 75% chance of dropping Sluggo off at the morgue. Guess what? Time to pay respects because Ash worked Sluggo over like a butcher does meat. Without a doubt, this match was going to be good. Both players have tight skills. Ash started off with a vengeance, bring the score to a mighty 8 to 1 at the 3 minute mark. But watch out, Sluggo catches the wave of dominance and begins to catch up and actually ties it up just over 9 minutes with 12 frags each. But, it seems nothing can stop the all powerful Ash and he drops a few more bombs to close the clash with a final score of 18 to 12. Both players played well, utilizing all of the weapons and playing the map. GG!
