1. I know how to cheat in single-player but how do I set the frag/time/capture limit and enable cheats?
2. How do I cheat in multi-player?
Will /devmap create a server, allow you to set the frag/time/capture limit, add bots, and specify the server name? If not, what will?
"Those that say 'cheaters never prosper' never cheated."
First off: /fraglimit, /timelimit, and /capturelimit are all console commands. As long as you're the server, you can set them from the console at any time. To cheat, load the map with the /devmap command, like "/devmap q3dm1". If you're looking to play single-player, use "spdevmap", such as "/spdevmap q3dm1".
As for multiplayer, if you're running the server, simply load every map with the "devmap" command instead of "map", and cheats will be enabled. However, if you're not running the server, you can't cheat. It's called being a little bastard. Go play fair with others. If you don't win, live with it.
Subject: Bot Routes On PA Maps
I have just downloaded the latest point release for
Quake III (v1.25) and noticed that the bot routes on
3rd party maps need recompiling because of some AI
Have the bot routes on the maps in the PlanetQuake
file section been updated for v1.25 bot behaviour?
Will they be?
"If at first you don't succeed, recompile."
I've been playing third-part maps for some time now. So far, bots have played just fine on every map I've been on. Recreating the bot .AAS files, particularly on CTF maps, will allow the new bots to take advantage of some of their new features. However, playing on old .AAS files will allow the bots to work just as well as before, if not better.
As far as I know, no third-party maps have been officially recompiled, because the 1.25 release is still a beta. Once the final 1.2x patch is released, you may see some maps recompiled, but since the bots work fine without a new .AAS file, many map authors may not bother. Either way, fragging bots will be as enjoyable as ever.

Subject: playing QuakeIII under win2000
How to start QuakeIII under Windows2000 Pro?
"What matters is not the journey, but the destination."
Playing Q3A in Win2K is the same as anything else. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your 3D card, install GLSetup if necessary, and frag away!
