March Madness

Demonwench: Okay all you readers, listen up! I'm in an absolutely horrible mood so I may be quite curt. The grad school I want to go to is dicking me around. Beware! My tongue is razor sharp this week!

Da Feedback

From: Torinir
Subject: Game Guide feedback

You missed a little piece of info on your Game Guide...

A frag which nets a defense award is worth 10 extra points.

Keep up the excellent work! :)

Demonwench: I was unaware we even HAD a game guide, but I'll take your word for it. Thanks for pointing that out.

Pappy-R: Yes we do and they rock! I've been cruising our guides for fixes and have already done a few. I'm on it!

Demonwench: I took high school German but I can't say for sure what this guy is saying. I think he wants a Gargamel model but who knows?

Pappy-R: You want fries with that?

Demonwench: Yeah, I know, the feedback is kinda thin. Deal with it. Here's more goodness for ya.

Pappy-R: This is what happens when we don't have a Rants n'Raves feature so go check it out and give us you ideas, thoughts or random acts of verbage.

Subject: How do you use them?

I played alliance and saw all the players using hooks. Maybe I missed it but your article talks about what people like or dislike. However, I am trying to learn how to use these hooks. How do you use these utilities. It is a patch or a files I need to install. Could you please let me know how to use these hooks.

Subject: i need to know how to use the hook

how do i use the grapple hook or that lightning hook thing?
thanks

Demonwench: Sometimes y'all think alike. You always seem to send in the same or similar questions. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!!

Pappy-R: Mods have info in their readme files or manuals on how they use the hook. Offhand or now, they vary in binds and use. Alliance is easy to setup and I believe it's available through the in-game menu.

Subject: id Software t-shirt

Hi PlanetQuakers and good morning!

Well, how to start? As you can see from my email address, I'm from Germany. And, as you might know, in Germany it's a bit hard to get id Software products. But there's one problem: I'm a big fan of this company and lucky as I am, I own Quake II, Quake III Arena und (as soon as possible) also Team Arena. But I want more! I want an id Software t-shirt. I would do everything to get one!!! Yesterday I asked Todd Hollenshead via email how to get one. He gave me only a link to www.activision.com, but there I need a credit card to order things - but I don't have one. And www.activision.de isn't allowed to sell quake-related things, 'cause it could be seen as advertising. And this sucks!!!

So maybe you at PlanetQuake could help me out of this misery. Maybe you could tell me where to get some id shirts. Yeah right! Shirt_s_ - if possible one signed and one that I can wear all day :)

If you can do so, than I got another question: Erm... I've seen John Carmack many times wearing these cool clothes. Well, how to explain? I know these Quake3 shirts, where that logo is on the front, but I don't know what's on the back. I've seen John Carmack with a t-shirt that had a big phat id logo on the back. And I want such a shirt!!! So maybe I'm searchin' an id-only shirt (that's also, what I really want).

Please, help me, if you can!

Thanks so far and have a nice day!

Demonwench: Bud, I'm glad you like the shirts and all but I'm pretty sure if you want to order something from the Internet, yer gonna need a credit card...

Pappy-R: Since that stuff is taboo where you are, you're gonna have to work it out. We just can't help you with this one.

From: LORETTA
Subject: Q3A Mod Installment

How do you install a mod for quake 3? I look at the readme and it says just put it in your mod directory, I don't even have a mod directory.
PLEASE E-Mail me back.

Pappy-R: In all the readme files I've seen for Q3, they've always had the right info on them. Normally it's just a mod named directory in Quake iii main. Bert's mod would be quakeiii/burt, but always rely on the readme files or contact the mod team themselves from their page.

Demonwench: Okay people. If you want more stuff in the feedback, you gotta write in. Next up, more people for me to yell at!

Next: The gnarliness starts on the second page.
