When you first played the Quake demo, did you think it was going to be huge? (submitted by Daz)

Answer Votes

Of course! I knew right away it was going to be a hit.
532
41.1%
I thought it was good, but I didn't know it was going to be so popular.
288
22.2%
I thought it sucked and I was pretty surprised it took off like it did.
63
4.8%
I didn't have an opinion one way or another.
28
2.1%
I never played the Quake demo!
383
29.5%

Pappy-R: "+mouselook" changed my life and the ogre fetish began. I knew I wasn't the only one, so it had to get to be huge.
Tetsuo: I know it was going to be Phat City before it came out. MOW!
Lee'Mon: I had been on Doom for some time. Compared to Quake, Doom was a gateway drug.
L33t'M0n: I just played it last week. Not bad, but Q3A's blows it away.
Spyke: It scared the hell out of me. I knew it was a hit.
Fargo: We're talking about Quake 1 right? I played those damn Shareware levels back and forth, up and down, all over the place for weeks.
Hellchick: I got into Quake when it went retail, so I was one of the millions addicted to it after they bought it. And the rest is, as they say, history.
Mynx: I was astounded. Totally agog. Jaw agape, hyperventilating, pulse pounding amazement. It was beautiful.

In Q3, Do you add color to your player's name? (submitted by Armed_&_Dangerous)

Yes, i use all of them. I love variety!

Yes, but all red, like the walls and floor after someone eats my pair of rockets!
166

No, I never learned how to use them...

Hell no! It looks like a clown puked all over the monitor.
605
46.8%

Mynx: Oh dear goddess, NO. The only acceptable use of color I have EVER seen and will EVER endorse was on a dude with the nick of "crayola". That was great, clever even.
Pappy-R: Clan logo only and it's a touch of blue.
Tetsuo: Duh! 1337 baby.
Lee'Mon: Only if I could pick something a little more...subdued. And WHAT is up with these people coloring their names black?!? Is it l33t? Throw me a frickin' bone here!
L33t'M0n: Actually, a clown did puke all over my monitor, so I'd probably be a bit biased.
Spyke: There's color in names? What will they think of next?
Fargo: Bad clown. Bad, BAD clown.
Hellchick: No, but I'm thinking that they should release a patch that allows me to not only color my name, but make it blink in a 40 point font, with a pink "Hello Kitty" background and a Java applet that makes it look like it's all reflecting in a pool.

Have you turn the bobroll (and other things like that) off? (submitted by poi)

Yes, because I tend to fall off my chair while going around the corners.

Yes, it seems to help my aiming...or is that psychological?
198
15.3%
No, I don't care.
584
45.3%
No, I've increased it, to feel like I'm surfing Q3A!

Bobroll? Is that some new kind of pastry?
376
29.1%

Mynx: I like my bobroll with butter and honey.
Pappy-R: A little bob, a little roll, a little motion for the ocean.
Tetsuo: Allz I'm sayin' is p1mps like me and bobroll don't mix.
Lee'Mon: Yeah! General apathy wins again!
L33t'M0n: I want to feel like I'm surfing Q3A. [slaps Lee'Mon] Get Sliders done already, will ya?
Spyke: Bob can roll around all he wants. Me, I play Quake.
Fargo: I don't think it's appropriate to discuss my Bobroll in public. All I'm saying is, it gets the job done, and nobody's complained yet.
Hellchick: I think there's a limit as to just how much to tweak your system before you should be classified as a freak.

Do you own any of the action figures that Resaurus sold for Quake 2?

Answer Votes
Percentage

Yes! I collected them all, just like they say to do.
55
4.3%
Yes, I have a few of them, just the ones I really wanted.
158
12.3%
No! Action figures are lame.
625
48.9%
No, I didn't know they sold action figures!
438
34.3%

Mynx: Like I've said before, Quake 2 just didn't top my taco. Mental and I wanted Q1 action figures for the top of our wedding cake, though.
Pappy-R: The Iron Maiden surveys the lanscape that is my office.
Tetsuo: Mynx is talking about her taco again! DOH!
Lee'Mon: Major (the male one) waits, Rocket Launcher and Hyperblaster in hand.
L33t'M0n: While Barracuda shark gets prepared to grapple over to Lee'Mon's monitor and bite Major's big one.
Spyke: No, but I want them. I want them all!
Fargo: Your action figures are but chum for P. "Backpack" Danadage, MAN OF ACTION's ocean.
Hellchick: Oh my GOD...I cannot believe that almost 50% said that action figures are LAME. You people disgust me. I not only own the female marine and the Strogg Iron Maiden, but I've got sources scoring me the ones I don't have, despite the fact that you can't get them from Resaurus anymore.

Pappy-R: Thank you for voting "Denied Pinhead"!
Tetsuo: "Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da! Da!"
Lee'Mon: I want a digital Denis Leary giving play-by-play. "Hey, ****head, wake up and smell the ammunition, okay? Get up, wipe the drool off you face, pick up a ****ing gun and go kill somebody, o-KAY?!?"
L33t'M0n: I have this strange desire to change every single sound to Al Pacino shouting, "WOO-HAH!"
Spyke: I want screams instead of the little beep whenever you hit someone.
Fargo: [Laughing too hard at Tet's comment to respond]
Hellchick: Gotta go with Tet.

Mynx: boobies.
Pappy-R: Oh you people want to slap me around more than that and you know it.
Tetsuo: Once upon a time there was a tiny strip of bacon. But this strip of Bacon ate all his Tetsu-Os and grew up to be big and strong. Then Tetsuo ate the strip of bacon. The moral of the story is: Bacon or Boobies. You decide.
Lee'Mon: I notice I'm not even a choice... I guess it's because real hardcore gamers use GameSpy3D. (And have swag already.)
L33t'M0n: I use it GameSpy Arcade to play chess with others. I usually win when my queen takes the BFG out of her purse and slays the other side.
Spyke: Finally! I beat Pappy! Wait.. that's not a good thing here.
Fargo: Whoa, Hellchick actually TALKS to you guys?
Hellchick: Dammit, now Fargo's not going to leave my cubicle.

Who are these people anyway?

Hellchick is the PQ Site Director, or at least has convinced her friends that she is.
Pappy-R is PQ's News Jockey and Part-time Table Dancer.
Spyke does the PQ in Review, the PQ Mailbag, and your girlfriend.
Lee'Mon writes articles and editorials for PQ, which means he's really into finding things to complain about.
shaithis is a former PQ Site Director who now spends his days running GameSpy.com and sharpening the spikes on the top of his cubicle. You think we're kidding.
Fragmaster also used to run PQ, and now manages ClassicGaming.com and the console section of the GameSpy network. He also enjoys the occasional potted tuna.
Mynx is our resident advice expert, knowledgeable about all sorts of topics that the rest of us are just too scared to touch.
Tetsuo performs miracles that mere mortals cannot understand as part of the tech team at GameSpy. He also really likes bacon. Even more than Hellchick.
Fargo has been around since the beginning of PQ. He's been known to camp everything, including the poll.
