Most of you haven't bought Ground Zero ... why not?
I have bought it / am going to buy it
I didn't know it was out
It's too expensive
It's too single player oriented
It's too much effort walking to the computer games store
Why buy Ground Zero when I can download levels for free?
It doesn't look very good
I don't play Quake II
Joost: Bought it, loved it. Saved me the effort of finding 20-30 quality addon levels with new monsters and items on the Net.
Gestalt: Must .. leave .. chair .. open door .. no .. too much effort. That, and the fact that the last Quake II Mission Pack I played through once in single player and then committed to the big recyclebin in the sky.
With Half-Life, Shogo, Sin, Klingon .. all due out before Christmas, do you still see yourself playing Quake II next year?
I'm sticking with Quake II all the way
I'll still play Quake II as well as the other games
I'm ditching Quake II for one of the other games
Forget Quake II, I'll still be playing QuakeWorld!
Joost: I'm tempted to say no.
Void: QuakeWorld forever!
Gestalt: I can see myself still playing Q2CTF a year from now, but I'll probably be playing lots of Half-Life and TF2 unless Valve did something horrible to the network code.
What's the most you've ever spent upgrading your computer just to play Quake faster?
$0 - I'm still playing on my old 486
Joost: I boughth a Monster 1 ages ago. That's about it.
Void: $300 for a Righteous 3D... top of the line!
Gestalt: Quake asked for more frames per second. How could I say no? $600 for a new motherboard, case, CPU and memory. Looks like we've got some real hardware junkies out there though... A quarter of you have spent over $1000 just to improve your framerate?
Do you think it's important for a company to release a shareware / demo version of their game before the full version?
Of course! I won't buy it without playing the demo first
Not if it's too big to download on my modem
Of course not! I trust magazine / website reviews
Who cares? The voices in my head tell me what to buy
Who cares? I'm just going to warez it anyway
Void: Demos kick ass... especially that Shogo demo.
Gestalt: Nice to see most of you agree with me... Ideally companies should release demos of their games BEFORE
the full version hits the shelves. *cough* Unreal *ahem*. Unless the game sucks, the demo can only help you sell the
game. Kudos to Ritual (Sin) and Monolith (Shogo) for releasing cool public demos recently...
Do the satanic symbols in Doom, Quake etc bother you?
Yes! They should be banned
Yes! They offend me
No! I couldn't care less
No! There should be MORE satanic symbols
What satanic symbols?
Joost: People that are bothered by them, bother me.
Void: I voted that there should be more... but I sure didn't expect so many people to agree. Wow.
Gestalt: I think they add to the atmosphere. I want MORE pentagrams, inverted crosses, crucified disembowelled zombies... Sorry, what was that? Back in the padded cell? Aw...
Are you, or have you ever been, a camper?
Hell yes! I camp all day every day
Yes, but I never respawn camp
Sometimes I camp
No, I've never camped
Hell no! I hate campers
Joost: Every once and a while. Doesn't everyone?
Void: Camping is a dirty business, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Gestalt: I mostly play CTF these days, and "camp" in my base. Anyone who has a problem with that needs their head reading... "Camping" is part of CTF and team games.
If you get your ass whupped in a deathmatch, what do you do?
Blame it on lag
Accuse the winner of cheating
Leave the server in a huff
Compliment the winner
Void: Hmm... I don't think that's ever happened to me, actually. :P
Gestalt: If someone takes me down with a really class shot, they deserve congratulations. If they do it 20 times in five minutes I get fed up of dying and find another server... ;-)
What's the longest you've ever played Quake / Quake II at one sitting?
I've never played either Quake
A few minutes - it gave me motion sickness
over a day - I was fed caffeine intravenously
Joost: My attention span is limited. A few hours perhaps.
Void: Back in the early days of QuakeWorld and CTF, I once played for about 4 hours until 3:00 am. That rocked.
Gestalt: I don't get as much time to play as I'd like to, but I did pull an all-nighter a couple of months back - played about 8 hours of Q2CTF and got to bed at 7am... There's something weird about going to bed just as the sun is coming up.
