Will you buy the Quake II Netpack "Extremities"?

Joost: Sure to be a nice thing to have on the shelf. besides, I'll have the same version everyone else is playing right on CD: a nice backup.
Mix: Cable Modem. 'nuff said.
Fargo: It'll be interesting to watch the sales on this one. We'll see if the people who aren't online all the time are interested in Quake II still.
crt: Well, since my mod is in the pak, I assume I'll get a free copy!
Gestalt: Oh dear... Not looking good for id. On the other hand, the pack was more aimed at people who aren't already into the whole Quake scene thing, so maybe it will work out in the end... I know I won't be buying it though. I'd only buy it if a) it was true shovelware (downloading 500Mb of mods and maps on a 56k modem ain't fun...), b) if it had some exclusive new maps from id on it, or c) I had something of mine on it.

Would you rather have a game "when it's done" or now?

Joost: I'd rather have them 'in 2 weeks'. 2 real weeks. All of them. (You expected another answer?)
Mix: As long as a game company is aware of problems and is actively working to solve them, I can stand a few patches.
Fargo: Hmm. Close call, actually. Personally, I'd rather see games that are more finished than less -- Quake II shipped without Deathmatch levels!
crt: Give me it when the single player works, and the multiplayer is passable. I don't want to have to play the single player twice.
Gestalt: The people have spoken! If only the companies were listening...

Joost: Beta bad.
Mix: I'll wait until the final.
Fargo: I stay away from betas of patches myself. This is starting to set a weird precident, though...
crt: Fixes some bugs.. hopefully doesn't add any new ones.
Gestalt: I tried downloading it once, but as usual id's server was overloaded. Are they linked to the net with a piece of string or something?!?

Joost: It totally rocked. I had the most fun playing Unreal DM ever.
Mix: Tried it for the first time today. Had a fairly decent game.
Fargo: 218 Makes some substantial improvements -- it's at least worth checking out. More and more Unreal servers are starting to appear -- hopefully it isn't too late! :)
crt: The netplay is much better, doesn't do much for the gameplay however.
Gestalt: Not yet, I uninstalled Unreal about four months ago. I'm waiting for my new hard drive to arrive before I reinstall it...

crt: mmm.. Doom 2000
Gestalt: I'm surprised so many of you remember Rescue Rover... Wolf2000 would rock - "Achtung!" Whatever they do I'll give it a try though - unless they do Dangerous Dave 3D of course.
