What is the best rocket launcher ever? [submitted by rap]

AnswerVotes
Percentage

Doom - The original is always the best one. We all have "...can turn several baddies inside-out..." stuck in our hearts forever.
289
17.9%
Quake - It was there for everyone's first rocket jump.
503
31.2%
Quake II - I love watching the little rockets slide into the chamber...
366
22.7%
Quake III - K.I.S.S.- Simple, and to the point. It LOOKS like a rocket launcher.

Hellchick: Hmm, tough choice. But since I recently rediscovered the joys of Quake 1, I'd have to go with that. It also had, hands down, the coolest grenade launcher.
Fargo: Specifically, I'd say QuakeWorld -- that's where the Rocket Jump really came of age. And you had the ability to fling your enemy up in the air for a good lightning shafting. QuakeWorld is still the best pure deathmatch game ever, and I blame the rocket launcher.
Shaithis: Quake1 had the best rocket launcher. By far. Fast, brutal, unconcerned with weapon balance.
?: Dude. Quake. Dude.
Mynx: Mental4.
Pappy-R: Quake 1 by far! If you didn't have one...you were meat. The fine art of Rocket jumping started here for a reason.
Ash: Yup, the classic RL is the shit.

Hellchick: Quake 1! And anyone who says differently is a heathen.
Fargo: A lot of people dis the 'music' for Quake I, but I thought it was great -- dark, moody, atmospheric, weird whispering ... noise and stuff. I LOVED it.
Shaithis: Quake 1 had the best music. By far. Of course, all music in FPS games should be immediately shut off, but that's beyond the point.
?: Hmm. Music? Hmmm. I think I was the most let down by Quake1 with all the hype about NIN doing the soundtrack - but it really was just atmosphere.
Mynx: I really loved the Quake 1 music - it still gives me the creeps.
Pappy-R: Quake 1 was more than music, it was part of the single player game. For DeathMatch I'd have to go with Quake 2.
Ash: I love Quake 1 if only for being NiN, but I think DOOM's soundtrack was great.

Hellchick: YES! Second only to boobies. I'm not sure if that's something to feel good about, though...
Fargo: I ALWAYS feel good about boobies, Hellchick.
Shaithis: The answer is probably something lame, like "the".
?: Sigh. PQ has really gone down hill. :)
Mynx: I so totally rule. Interesting though that nobody mentioned "pween". (Boobies)
Pappy-R: But can you Pween a boobie?
Ash: I don't know, but I'm definately willing to try!

Hellchick: Check it out, see, I'm running with the enemy flag and their hot on my heels...I skip around corners, jump into hallways...only to discover I've taken a wrong turn and I end up BACK IN THE ENEMY'S %&$^ING BASE. And they kill me and return the flag, which is only 2 feet away from its base.
Fargo: The longest yard, which for me was the longest fall for the first couple of weeks I tried to play it. "Fargo was in the wrong place. In the wrong place. the wrong place. wrong place. wrong place. wrong place."
Shaithis: I always feel slightly embarassed when I spend two minutes pumping lead into a disguised spy, in Q3F, before realizing he's on my team.
?: Carrying the flag into the enemy base has to be the worst. Good lord I need some q1ctf.
Mynx: Me, Mental4, Quake 1, and a server that I *really* hope was not logging.
Pappy-R: Either I'm far too cool for an embarrassing moment, or there are too many to select just one. You decide.
Ash: I really think it's funny/embarrasing when someone forgets the / on commands, and tells everyone on the server "bind b '+button3; say 'ha ha ha, i dont sux0R this time!'"

Shaithis: No. Uh... I can't really even elaborate on that or make it funny. Just... no.
?: It happens allll the time at the beatdown, baby.
Mynx: I am above that sort of nerdiness.
Pappy-R: Nope, never, no way. I'm always the last to drop and only on a bed or suitable substitute.
Ash: Agreed, never fallen asleep at the computer. Now if there is a cushy couch, beanbag, or extra bed around... all the time.

What is most critical to maximum 0wnage?

AnswerVotes
Percentage

Health and Armor Control - The player with the most health, wins.
248
15.8%
Level Navigation - Knowing the level better than your own bedroom in the dark is the key.
355
22.7%
Accuracy - If you can use the rail like a scalpel, the rest will come.
611
39.1%
Weapon Choice - There is a correct tool for the job, use it and win.
347
22.2%

Hellchick: Weapon choice, but that's nothing unless you're at least very good with both the rocket launcher and the railgun. If you can use both of these effectively, then I hate you.
Fargo: Really it's about always having the red armor. It's the great equalizer. Hey -- these were actually good poll questions this week. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?
Shaithis: Actually, I think Health and Armor control. A good health/armor controller can beat you regardless of weapon, and even with only mediocre accuracy. Of course, you have to know the level backwards and forwards to control health and armor that well.
?: I don't even understand the question. let's rock!
Mynx: Just being myself. :-D
Pappy-R: Since knowing the level is vital to item control, they are one thing, THE thing. (Hellchick hates me! heheh)
Ash: Thanks Fargo, I try to toss in a question here or there. And I'm thinking that Health and Armor Control is where the maximum 0wnage lies.

Anyone else wondering who ? was? I'm wondering myself right now, but while I ICQ around to see who skipped the ol' "Handle" field on the comment form, you can send your guesses into me. The first one with the correct answer gets to do Poll Comments via Ash-Proxy next week.
