Does violence in computer games cause violence in real life?
Hell yes! Eat this!
Yes - I think it can
Don't know / don't care
No - I don't think it can
Hell no! Violent computer games reduce violence
Tetsuo: Impossible. If this was true, everyone I know would be dead, and then some.
Mix: Must control... anger... rising... *gak* *urp*
Fargo: When I was a wee kid we'd chase each other with sticks and pretend to shoot them at each other. "AND WE LOVED IT!" (just kidding.) My point is, action and competition are built into our genes, games are just another outlet. It only translates to "real" violence in the case of unstable individuals already prone to violent acts -- same with rock music, same with the Bible.
BreadTooth: no, and if you ask me that again I will rip your heart out
Bastard: FACT: Firing a gun in a computer game is a completely different concept from firing a handgun in real life.
China: I know there's nothing better for reducing stress than blowing away some chumps at the end of the day
Gestalt: The only time computer games cause me to be violent is when they crash. ;-)
Did you build your own PC?
Hell yes! I build PCs for a living
Yes - this one's all my own work
Not quite - it was custom built by someone else
No - I bought mine "off the shelf"
Hell no! I wouldn't know how
Tetsuo: Yep, and I add a new wing or two every month... :)
Mix: Homegrown baby, the only way.
Fargo: I told Dell what I wanted, and they sent it to my house. Bitchin'. as dweomer will tell ya, I don't know my way around the innards of a computer very well...
Bastard: Most of mine are pre-built and then I add stuff to them.
China: Got someone else to put it together for me.
Gestalt: Yes, and it shows - nothing works!
What do you think of the new id Q2CTF maps?
I don't play Q2CTF
What new Q2CTF maps?
They all ROCK!
They're all good
They're all OK
They're all bad
They all BITE!
Some of them are good, some aren't
Tetsuo: Attention - Half-Life is out! Why would I play Q2 CTF? And no, I didn't know they were out.
Mix: Ouch. Looks like CTF if about to go the way of the dodo.
Fargo: id knows how to keep us happy. :)
Bastard: I must admit that I haven't played them.
China: Been playing too much Half-Life!!
Gestalt: Haven't really played them much yet, but I like The Hangar. The other two aren't really my style... What I want to know is how on earth almost half the Q2CTF players here didn't know there were three new maps out... GO TO THE FILES PAGE AND DOWNLOAD Q2CTF V1.50 DAMNIT! Ahem...
When do you most like to play Quake?
The morning - The early bird catches the gibs!
The afternoon - Cartoons don't compare to Quake
The evening - Prime time gibfest
Late night - Quake to the moon
Early morning - I love the smell of napalm in the morning...
Don't care - Because every time of day is Quake time!
Tetsuo: Either daytime or nighttime - I pause at dawn and dusk for a smokey treat.
Mix: Whenever the feeling strikes.
Fargo: I usually only stop to eat or to comment on the PQ poll. ;)
BreadTooth: all of the above at a Beatdown! ROCK!
Bastard: Coffee and Quake.... mmm mmm good!
China: At night after a long day, sometimes all nite.
Gestalt: Late night / early morning. It's that feeling you get when it starts getting light outside and the birds start singing. You know, "Oops, I've got to be up in two hours".
How many lan parties do you attend a year?
0 - I'm a LAN party virgin
1 - it's all I can take
2-5 - just a few
6-12 - one every few weeks
12-24 - I'm an addict
25+ - must .. go .. frag
Tetsuo: 1998 was about 17 for me... lets see, (12X800)+(2X1000)=11,600 miles on my Civic going to LAN parties down south alone... the Honda dealership is NOT going to be happy when I turn in my *leased* car this summer...
Mix: People! Come together in some LAN love! it's easy!
Fargo: Just over 1800 newbies? Go to LANParty.com and get some experience, man! There's nothing like Teamplay Quake/Half-Life/StarCraft/Whatever to totally blow your mind.
BreadTooth: how many Beatdowns are there gonna be this year?
Bastard: We had a half-life lan party this weekend. ROCKED!
China: Once a month.... BEATDOWN!
Gestalt: I'd never been to one before December, but I've been to two in the last month and probably be at three more in the next couple of months...
