How did you feel when you heard Q3test was released for the Mac first?
Pissed off, I don't own a Mac.
Didn't care, it will be released for the PC/Linux later. I can wait.
Great, I own a Mac.
Darx: I've seen enough screen shots to know it's going to be worth the wait.
Fargo: Surely PlanetQuake has more Mac users than that! Speak up, Macheads!
FL0W3R: MAC, SCHMACK! SCHMACK MY BEYOTCH UP!
dweomer: It makes sense from id's perspective - but I still want it NOW dammit.
kaaos: People make games for the mac?
Mix: I thought either the apocalypse was upon us, or I was in another dimension. Silly me.
crt: Good things come to those who wait
Bastard: Ah, we're pretty popular with these mac kids.
Cobbster: biting my well manicured nails
crispy: planetquake has more PC users than that, too, they just don't all answer. 3.5 to .0125 is probably an accurate ratio.
After Q3A comes out, what will be the future of all the private bot makers?
They're are a dying breed as we speak
They'll still be needed to make Q3A bots available for the new cool mods
id will complete the bot code just enough for them to REALLY complete it
id will do a half-ass job and they'll start from scratch
id's bots will be good, but there's always room for improvement.
Darx: If I can't play with an Eraser bot at some point I'm not going to be happy...
Fargo: People will be able to concentrate on making the bots do cool things, like guarding the Quad for you, calling you "sir," and insulting your enemies for you.
FL0W3R: Bots are to Quake as Agents are to THE MATRIX hahahah I always give good analogy
dweomer: Private bot makers will still be important -- I think some will be better than id's.
kaaos: id will go Microsoft and hire them all.
Mix: Bots!, we don't need no steenking bots! Well, at least I don't.
Walla: Every bot I've seen so far is the equivalent of a tic-tac-toe opponent...if id can't create a "chess opponent" level bot, there will still be a void to fill.
crt: They will finally get a good engine to work with :)
Bastard: Bots? Bitch, Please. Cable Modems and DSL are everywhere... aren't they?
Cobbster: bots? we don't need no stinking bots!
crispy: Between Cash and Carmack, id's bots should be cool...but there's always some young upstart waiting to go one step further.
Would you like to see a game based on The Matrix using the Q3 engine?
Nah, that movie sucked
Uh-oh, another movie game...
What is The Matrix?
WRONG! The answer is maple syrup!
Darx: I'd like to say yes but I'm afraid it would suck for some reason. Leave that movie in your imagination where it belongs.
Fargo: It's just a black screen that tells you to follow the white rabbit.
FL0W3R: Only if you could run up the walls, do flips and upload Ju jit zu to your brain.
kaaos: Oh. Hell. Yeah.
Mix: I'm not a big fan of movie license games, let's make something original.
crt: Once you realize it's just a game, you will be able to turn on god mode. Where's the fun in that?
Bastard: Someone here needs to get a life.
Cobbster: there is no spoon
crispy: God...no. Good movie but come on...when have movie games ever been good?
Why is the damn poll so late?
It's all about the beatdown
It was driving Lowtax to the airport. Threw off the whole schedule
He was out all day trying to find a mac to play Quake 3 on
Darx: crispy's too busy over in the other room camping the quad as usual.
Fargo: Leave it to Crispy to turn an excuse into content.
FL0W3R: It's because you sit back there in the creative pit all day and CAMP THE QUAD!
dweomer: Do we have this question every week?
kaaos: I type in binary.
Mix: Always go with the BLEEEAAUUURRRAAAGGGHH!
Bastard: Slackers. Everyone here is a Slacker.
Cobbster: there is no spoon - oh sorry - got carried away on that one - prolly same thing happened to polls
crispy: You guys are starting to repeat yourselves. ;)
RETRO POLL (04/26/97): Do you plan on buying a 3D-graphics card within the next:
More than a year
Already own one
Don't plan on buying one
- 3 Months - 13
- 6 Months - 18
- 9 Months - 5
- Year - 15
- More Than a Year - 5
- Already Own One - 16
- Don't Plan on Buying One - 2
Darx: It's all about the TNT2...I think...or maybe a voodoo3 3500...aww hell
Fargo: Heh, not only do most people own a card, I bet a lot of them already have second generation cards. :)
FL0W3R: The new comercials for 3dFx are hilarious.
dweomer: Already own one. One of the requirements for work machines at GameSpy is that you can play GAMES on them. It is encouraged!
kaaos: With my integrated 1 meg cirrus chipset, I have no need for your fancy pants 3d card, suckah.
Mix: They're given to you at birth now, aren't they?
Walla: Tip to PC manufacturers: Stop building *video* onto your low-end motherboards! Instead build a 10/100 net card in and leave that slot open for an 3D card we can upgrade.
crt: Remember.. this was originally asked when the only real 3d card cost $300... and the only game that really used it was GLQuake
Cobbster: v3 3000 kicking booty on my rig ;-)
crispy: I thought the results on this would be funny. Hyuck.
