Week of September 21st, 1998
Did you miss us?
Hell yes! Don't you dare do that again
Hell no! I couldn't care less
You mean I answered the same questions both weeks?
Fargo: The PQ poll rules. Nuff said.
Bastard: I took a poll... god it hurt!
Joost: I in 'us'.
Gestalt: Aw, it's nice to be wanted...
So, GoldenEye 007 - what do you think of it?
The whole game OWNZ!
It's single player ROCKS!
It's deathmatch RULES!
The whole game SUCKS!
It's OK - nothing special
I've never played it
Is that a PC game?
Void: Never played it, but I've heard a lotta good things.
Fargo: It's an awesome single player game for a Console system. The DeathMatch and controls leave a lot to be desired when compared to a PC, but it's an N64 -- a different market.
Bastard: Never played it.
dweomer: Single player was cool enough that it was worth playing despite that controller. Deathmatch sucked.
Joost: Console 3D shooters.... what a fucking joke. I have only one word for you: controllers.
Gestalt: I don't think I need to repeat my opinions of GoldenEye here. Nice to know I'm not alone...
Have you ever used (or tried to use) a joypad to play a first person shooter?
Yes - it was great
Yes - it was OK
Yes - it was impossible
No - why the hell would I do that?
No - but I'll try anything once
Void: I tried. Was kinda amusing, but I'd never actually use it.
Fargo: I saw a guy playing at the BeatDown with a joypad in one hand and his mouse in the other. Cool.
Bastard: You guys need to meet the Scunion-Man
dweomer: Tried the scunion man track-ball and joystick combo. Whatever! Give me my mouse & keyboard.
Joost: Looks like Gestalt agrees with me on the controller issue.
Gestalt: I'll try anything once, but I'm happy with my mouse and keyboard set up for now...
How big is your Quake II folder?
I don't have it installed
Way too big..
Void: It's around a gig, but I can usually clean it out to about 600 meg if I really try.
Fargo: I went on a deleting spree so that I could install Shogo. ;) It's down to 723MB.
Bastard: Not long ago I got tired of spending hours "grooming" my hd so I could install a new mod. I went out and got 20 gigs of hd space. AND NOW I'M F'n grooming again anyway! doh!
dweomer: 246 mb. My Classic Quake folder is 424 mb. Hard drives are cheap.
Joost: about 700 mneg. And that includes 2 mission packs.
Gestalt: Over 500Mb, but then I've only got a 2Gb hard drive.
Did you install Quake II v3.18 beta?
No - that's the first I've heard of it
No - I wouldn't touch that with a 40 foot poll
Yes - I like to live life dangerously
Yes - it was the latest patch
Fargo: A beta of a patch? I feared it.
Bastard: I thought we all installed everything that id spewed out.
Joost: Nope. Didn't think there would be servers for it.
Gestalt: Hell no!
Have you installed Quake II v3.19 yet?
No - my favourite servers are still running earlier versions
No - I couldn't find it
No - when did that happen?
Yes - and it sucks
Yes - and it rocks
Yes - and I can't find any servers running it
I don't play Quake II
Fargo: I noticed no difference. Does that mean I'm lame? (Don't answer that.)
Joost: Works fine for me.
Gestalt: I just installed it yesterday - no choice. All my favourite CTF servers have switched over to now. Shame...
When you see a dead body, do you gib it?
Hell yes! I like to see meat chunks fly
Sometimes when i'm bored
Why waste the ammo?
Hell no! It causes too much lag
Void: Yeah, sometimes when I'm frustrated :)
Fargo: Only if it's on the enemy team :)
Joost: What do you mean save ammo? You mean rockets don't grow on trees?
Gestalt: Blowing chunks! Um...
Which of the shooters due out in the next few months are you most looking forward to?
Klingon Honor Guard
None of the above
Void: It was Half-Life, but Shogo is looking pretty kickass nowadays.
Fargo: Oops, we asked this in both the poll and insta-poll. We really do stink.
Bastard: Say it with me: "shogo! shogo! shogo!"
dweomer: Saw shogo at the beatdown... looking very cool. Half-life oem version is also looking good - need to find some time to play both.
Joost: Hard to say. Probably Half-Life.
Gestalt: Half Life all the way! Any game with a hero with a goatee is OK with me. Oh, and it's got nice AI and scripting and stuff I guess...
