Didja miss me? I know, I know, I didn't go anywhere, but when you're as great at Quake as I am, you have to expect that some people will miss being fragged. That made no sense. Welcome once again to PQ in Review, the only article that recaps everything that's happened in the Quake world in the past week, and especially the happenings right here at the Epicenter of Everything Quake, PlanetQuake! What a mouthful!
Not too much news this week, especially from us, as we were having "technical difficulties". However, some big news from id themselves. If you couldn't play a multiplayer game for a few days, it was because id Software was suffering from a denial of service attack. I'm not going to use the word "hacker" or "cracker" here, because any word used would upset some people, so I'll just use the word "jerk". Some jerk decided it would be fun to screw up id's servers, but no worries now, because it's all fix0r3d. I guess they got Jeff K to fix0r it, cause he's an l33t h4x0r. More big news from id, in the form of a beta point release for Quake 3 Arena! While this puppy's still in beta, I've downloaded it, and it doesn't screw anything up, so I'm pretty happy with it. But if it does screw stuff up for you, remember it's beta, and you were warned. You can get the beta point release from FilePlanet! Now on to the little news there was from PQ this week. Hellchick posted her Beatdown 2000 wrap-up, letting us all in on the splendor that is a Beatdown, and the post-apocalyptic st0nkage that occured at the New Year's event. Boy oh boy, did we ever have some winners for our "Get Naked" contest! Be entertained by naked people with Quake boxes over the naughty bits! And finally, we had our nice big heapin' scoop of Dear Mynx, where Mynx talks about.. um.. all the stuff that people who write letters talk about! To be honest, the damn server's down and I can't remember.
Next week on the epitome of Quake websites all across the universe; more of the beloved Mods, Models and Levels of the Week; Dear Mynx, the Mailbag, PQ in Review, and everything you've become accustomed to. Also, sometime in the future, we'll be doing a promotion with an interesting company. Oh yes, and this is great news for the Mailbag.. a new editorial by LeeMon next week!
Question of the Damned
You know, people, this Question of the Damned is supposed to involve audience participation. E-mail in questions you want to see us answer, fans! This week's question: "What's the coolest monster in all of the Quake games?"
The coolest monster is Orbb. An eye that walks on his hands is cool by default.
For in your face shock value it would have to be the fiend from Quake 1. But I still can't downplay the intense feeling of "eww" when faced with some flying "zombie flesh flick".
The Shambler, baby! He's absolutely huge, has giant claws, no eyes, and can scare the shiznit out of anyone that wants your cheesy poofs. Plus he's so damn cute! I just want to drag him around by his bitch chain and show him off to all my friends. And he can kill. Kill he can.
Spyke's Profound Thought
PlanetQuake finally seems to be on some stable ground again. Our apologies for what's been going on these past few days, as we've been getting new servers in and set up. Anyways, we appear to be back and ready to frag harder than ever! Woo hoo! Hey, here's a profound thought for you; why am I saying "woo hoo" when it only really matters if you can actually hear me? Or am I just slowly going insane? Perhaps my insanity is what's helping my Quake game. No, wait, that's just my new mouse.
