PQ in Review
Spyke recaps last week and all the things you may have missed! - by Spyke

PQ In Review: Review in Dub

News

An interesting week it was, as many got back to school, got back to work, and we got back to the high-octane Quakeosity that you know and love so much. So, of course, I'm going to start you off with the weeklies. Without fail, we brought the Levels of the Week, Model of the Week, Mike, and the Mod of the Week, Battle of the Sexes! In our first editorial in a long time, DamageInc asks "Is Quake 3 Art?", and goes into quite great detail on what art is, and why Quake 3 isn't art. Of course, if you disagree, funnel your feedback to feedback@planetquake.com! We also had a Rants & Raves this week, all on the subject of getting rid of the Quad Damage. Ludicrous, you say? The quad is an integral part of any Quake? Well, we've already said it, in our responses to the initial rant. But you can read it! The PQ Poll appeared faithfully, asking questions about rocket launchers, music, falling asleep at LAN parties and maximum 0wnage. Of course, we supply the retorts to the past week's Poll. And finally, the first PQ Mailbag in like a month was brought to you by Pappy R and Demonwench, and.. it's.. interesting to see how Pappy and Demonwench play off each other, both with the goal of humiliating others. Yaay!

Coming Soon

Coming this week, boys and girls, is that Q3A Model Contest we've been talking about for a while, where modellers have the chance to snag a signed copy of Quake 3: Team Arena! Along with all the regular stuff you've come to expect, we're promised a special interview this week. Who is it with? Why, you'll just have to check back and see! Also, Monday afternoon/evening, as is the norm, we're running a special Team Arena challenge in GameSpy Arcade!

Question of the Damned

We've asked this question before, but after playing Alice, I just have to ask it again. Our QotD for this week is: "What's your favorite Quake engine game, and why?"

Hellchick:

It would have to be Elite Force. Especially since I gave it a 91 for a review score. I think Raven did an awesome job on breaking the terrible curse of Star Trek action games.

Pappy R:

Star Trek Voyager is my favourite so far. I'm so hot for the new Wolf it hurts!

Spyke:

ALICEALICEALICE. Why? Because it's freaking beautiful, it's new, it's innovative, and it has the best single-player gameplay in a first/third person shooter since Half-Life. Oh yeah, and Alice is hot.

Ash was out playing his favorite Quake engine game.

Lee'Mon is presumably enjoying his birthday celebrations; drop a big "Happy B-Day" to the original mod pimp himself!

Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me!

Spyke's Profound Thought

Hmm.. so last week, I finished Alice, and found it to be completely swank.. I haven't played any new games this week. Perhaps I should check out the NOLF demo. I really don't have anything too profound to say this week, other than that I should really be studying for exams right now. Ugh.
