PQ In Review: Don't pick at it!

News

This has been the week of them's and those's. Or something like that. Over at Weapons Factory Direct a pair of new maps have hit the shelves for Q2WF and WFA. They're in the freelance section. And if you ever played Quake 2, you'll love this return. (Trumpets in the background) One of the biggest and baddest mutha's around is back with an attitude. The BIG FREAKING GUN is rearing its ugly head for Quake 3. Props to Wirehead. Reviews a plenty from, of course, ..::lvl and kicking it in Quake 2 style over at RetroQuake. Those of us into the Quake TC going by the name of Sidrial got a Easter surprise with an update to version 1.1. Want more information? Click on Halflife Refugee, my old CTF buddy. Jamming on about CTF, Deja Review posted up a few reviews on a remakes of Mckinley Revival, Quake 1 Start map, and Q1's House of Chthon. Ruin Hunters posted a video of some ingame footage and some previews of one of their upcoming maps. Who's into comics? Then you're already educated about Spiderman Q3 and the updates over there showing off some ingame renders. There was lots, lots, more. Interested? Check out the News Archive. But one thing I really want to add here and that is the totally awesome, stupendous, exhilarating, invigorating, skin for our own Pappy-R. Over at Bane Forge the man Chemical Burn has put up one of the best skins I've seen along with many others. Hey! Where's mine?

Coming Soon

Two years after the release of Quake 3 Fortress it seems that we're finally getting near version 2's release! Saturday April 6th is the date on the state. They had hoped to release earlier but issues such as cross-platform compatibility have held things up. Well, this extra week will also mean their quality team will get a little more time to play around with the game issues and will make Quake 3 Fortress 2 all the more enjoyable. Why not join them in #q3f on Quakenet #Q3F for the pre-release party!

Stump the Chump

Last Week's Question was:

"Where did the name 'Wendy' originate?"

The Answer Is:

The story/movie Peter Pan is the first known use of the name 'Wendy'.

The Winners Were:

  • Adrian Larose
  • Ben
  • skot
  • Redlemons
  • Windplume (He didn't know it, but gave this answer. "The name originated from Ug Thomas' daughter's nickname, back in the day of the dinosaur, when he was selling grilled dino patties from a Flintstonemobile.")

  • This Week's Question is:

What do you sit on, sleep on, and brush your teeth with?"

    IceStorm:

E-mail me the correct answer and the winners names will be posted in next week's PQ in Review.

You too can submit a "Stump the Chump" question, just e-mail me!

    IceStorm's Thought o' the Week

Spring is in the air, at least here it is. Got up in the 80s (29c) this week and even got new tires put on my truck. Ok, so let me explain something to you people playing CTF. If you're on offense, don't be so stupid and get into a battle in the middle of the map. First off, you're wasting time. Second off, you want them to go by because that'll be one less player in the enemy base to fight off. And third, if you get lucky and frag the player where do they spawn?? Yes, back in base. So now you've went and got stupid because you now have to fight him TWICE and now he knows you're coming. Your odd's are less then good that you'll survive the second encounter. So this is how a proper offensive player goes about it. He gets to middle ground, see's the enemy, BYPASSES the enemy, then notifies his defense of the incoming hostile, and proceeds on his merry way to the flag. Yes, they can do the same thing as you but your odd's will be better then if you battled it out. So my suggestion is to let your defense do the work it's supposed to do and you go about your business of getting the flag. Remember, you're not playing DM. It's a team game, so keep it that way.
