PQ In Review: Gettin ready for the 'Con

News

Ok boys and girls, lets get to it. No time to mess around. This week we saw Q3F release version 2.2 of their Quake III mod. This release incorporated new maps, fixed maps, and some bug removal. Our very own f4ant0m45 over at RetroQuake updated some reviews and other news. The PlanetQuake Level of the Week features a Quake II level for you DM lovers. And if you're not already registered (like I said to do last week!) you should head over to QuakeCon 2002 and sign up. You can also look up who else has signed up too. Over at lvl they've posted up some of their nifty little reviews this week. Oh crap, I almost forgot to mention this weeks PlanetQuakes Featured MOD. This time around Abomonog gives use the run down on ARQ and all those goodies. The team at Baal-Peor has posted up 3 level reviews, one for each version of Quake. Cool huh? Thats a good Ten Four good buddy where they have done up two new Quake SP level reviews. And also in the news this week was True Combat, the super realism mod for Quake III. This weeks they've given up the eye candy I'm so fond of on their new UI and some mappage. Rock on!

Coming Soon

Give me a moment to wipe the tear from my eye. I always cry at weddings and anniversaries. What do you mean "what anniversary?". Oh no you didn't. You did not forget that back in 1996 the world was changed forever with the intoduction of Quake. Can you imagine where we would be without Quake and it's evolutionary graphics engines? You'd never see games such as RtCW, MoH:AA, SoF, SoF2, and others. Wow, we'd all be playing solitaire or mine sweeper. So lets pay hommage to the great team of id software, that without their efforts we'd all be mowing the grass or something.

Stump the Chump

Last Week's Question was:

When does water become 'wet'?

The Answer Is:

When you touch it -or- When it's a liquid form.

The Winners Were:

  • TargetPractice
  • Dan Hobbs
  • That one was easy, you people are slacking!

    This Week's Question is:
What is Pappy-R's favorite Quake III mod?

    IceStorm:

E-mail me the correct answer and the winners names will be posted in next week's PQ in Review. If you're smart enough!

You too can submit a "Stump the Chump" question, just e-mail me!

    IceStorm's Tip o' the Week

Well after last weeks challenge to Jube about anytime, any game, any server, she managed to contact me and say she wanted to do some good ol' Quake II love. But then she say's (and I quote) "I actually have a flash movie I did regarding my hatred for The Edge"....she hate's The Edge? Is that possible? A map that possibly has the best game flow ever? I feel so, so used, so cheap. So now she wants to play "The Frag Pipe". I can't even remember that map much less find out if I have it. Yes, I know. I'm a sad sad person. But alas my compadres, I will work it and frag her with furious vengance. I will then dance upon her lifeless carcass whilst listening to some outlawed Irish tunes and drinking from her hollowed skull. Was that to detailed and graphic? Good, I hope it scared her some. hehe Ok actually all, she's probably going to eat my lunch and then tell EVERYONE that she destroyed my will to live. Oh well, I'll just find out where she lives and throw a pie at her! Lets go girlfriend, I'm waiting. :p
