PQ in Review
Spyke recaps last week and all the things you may have missed! - by Spyke

PQ In Review: I Can't Think Of A Title

Wow, what a week here at the Big Fuzzy. A ton of features bringing you the goodness you usually expect from PQ, and some extra special stuff going on, right in the heat of the summertime. We know how to please, and we're pleased to please you. Or something like that. So let's get to recapping what went down! Booyah!

News

Of course, Sunday was the big day, with the release of Rocket Arena Q3A. If you don't have it, grab it now, or you face possible eternal damnation. The very next day, Lee'Mon kicked out his latest editorial, "Where, Oh Where...", wondering why there haven't been any cool mods for Q3A yet. Unfortunately, it seems like this editorial came a couple days too late, what with RA3. In her neverending saga of LAN party and tournament attending, Hellchick treated us to her article on the Battle Top tournament in SoCal over the past weekend, including pictures of Carmen Electra. What more could you ask for? The PQ Poll continued to ask you readers for more, wondering what you thought of RA3, and if you're really obsessive over Quake, to the point where it controls your every breath, and forces you to consume only Cheez Whiz. Oh yeah, and the GSI/PQ crew gave our usual humorous commentary on the results from the past week. Mynx continued her neverending saga of giving advice to those who really, really need it in this week's Dear Mynx, which includes answering questions regarding chivalry, STDs, and female wankage; also, find out about Hellchick's first time! I can't believe I just said that. After a brief hiatus, Lee'Mon kicked out chapter 6 of Generations, his critically acclaimed novella set in the Q3A universe! Generations, Lee'Mon's editorial, and many other things (including clowns, oh horrible clowns) were discussed in this week's PQ Mailbag which is full of my own blood, sweat, and a lot of tears. Damn you, clowns! TechTips went old-school for the latest edition, as Love2Play gave the scoop on setting up servers for Quake! Still going on while this goes up, Beatdown 22 is all about the LAN-ness and the hurtage; we'll have pictures and all that jazz soon!

Coming Soon

Coming up this week, we've got the results of the absolutely massive Quake Haiku contest, which produced some really good and really strange poems. We'll most likely be wrapping up the Beatdown in some form or another, as Hellchick heads to QuakeCon for even more LAN party goodness on Wednesday! We'll have a whole section covering QuakeCon 2K, including live news, and a contest! Add that to the regular features, and you've got a week so exciting you just have to know where the bathroom is!

Question of the Damned

Of course, with the release of Rocket Arena Q3A last week, the question must be asked: "What do you think of RA3?"

Hellchick:

RA3 is like manna from heaven! It's about the most polished mod I've seen yet. I'm hooked on it. I still suck, but I'm hooked on it anyway.

Pappy R:

It's fun, fast and of general high quality in every respect. One of the most professional quality projects out there.

L33t'M0n:

What the hell? I can't camp, there's no quad, no grapple, no BFG.. this is the worst mod ever!!

Spyke:

Due to the pressure of myself having to fill in what would otherwise be empty space, I believe that the answer to this question will have to be relocated to the more profound final paragraph of this feature.

Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me!

Spyke's Profound Thought

So anyways, RA3 is amazing. And I'm not just saying this because Hellchick is pointing a virtual gun at my head. I've never been addicted to a mod before, but I am now. It's kind of weird, because I never really played Rocket Arena before, just a little bit in Q2. It's freakin' polished. Outstanding UI, wicked maps, and the gameplay is fast and furious, just the way I like it. Hats off to crt and the entire team! Oh yes, and according to the e-mail I got, 2 people died waiting for RA3, but were still able to tell me about it.
