PQ in Review
Spyke recaps last week and all the things you may have missed! - by Spyke

PQ In Review: We Got Lots Of Stuff

Holy crud, what a week. Many of you readers out there, and myself, returned to school, only to be inundated with homework, making us cry. But who was there for you when you finished your homework, a broken and humble shell of your former self? That's right, PlanetQuake was. We entertained you. We gave you the tools to have an even-more-ass-kicking game of Quake. It's just our way of saying thanks.

News

That being said, the Levels of the Week for Quakes 1, 2, and 3 Arena found their way to the surface on Monday, being part of the "us-giving-you-tools" thing. Then on Tuesday, we kicked up Hellchick's editorial, "A House That id Built", giving the low down diggity on how id started the whole modification scene, and therefore must be given props. Or something like that. Also on Tuesday, we kicked up our latest in a swank line of Q3A models, our Model of the Week: Aeon Flux! Wednesday saw the PQ Poll, as usual, asking the most important questions about Quake, having done so since.. um.. a long time ago. Also on Wednesday was our Mod of the Week: FreakBall Arena! That's right, the recently released mod made it to the premiere mod-focusing-on spotlight, and why? Because it's bloody swank, that's why. Wednesday also saw us kick off our Quake 3 Message Contest, challenging you, the readers, to come up with alternate death messages and all that jazz, to win GameSpy swag! We returned to kick it old-school style with this week's Retro Dear Mynx! That's right, we linked you on back to the days when you were l33t if you had a Voodoo, to Mynx's very first column! So don't complain if it sucks. Then we kicked it brand-new style (or "fresh" if you will), with Pappy's King of the Server 2000 Interview! Pappy hooked up with two of the guys behind KotS2K to get the inside scoop on their update of the great Q2 mod. Lee'Mon proved his worthiness when he took over the PQ Mailbag and did a damn fine job. This week's Mailbag features feedback from Hellchick's editorial, some Leftover Gibs, and L33t'M0n answering the mail Lee'Mon won't touch. Finally, in our Week Of Lots Of Stuff, Love2Play busted out Building Your Own Gaming Rig, Part 2, showing all you people what don't know how to build your own computer.. um.. how to build your own computer.

Coming Soon

I swear, sometime soon, we'll have a Gauntlet. Don't hurt me! Expect another From the Hardcore Side from Pappy sometime soon, perhaps giving us the even more inside scoop from the CCC he's currently attending in Toronto. We may have the latest Generations chapter. Other than that, we've got the regular features for you this week, including (most likely) another Retro Mynx, the Levels, Mod, and Model of the Week, the PQ Poll, and the newly-Lee'Mon'd PQ Mailbag! Aww yeah.

Question of the Damned

Last week I queried my colleagues as to which game out of all games ever was their favorites. Now this week, I ask the ultimate toughie. Dear coworkers: "Which is your least favorite game of the Quake series, and why?"

Pappy R:

[In Toronto, schmoozing]

Hellchick:

[In California, snoozing]

Lee'Mon:

Hmm... it's like asking which luxury sports car you most dislike. At any rate, I spent most of the Quake I era playing and hacking Doom (due to an insufficient computer), so it's probably the one I've played the least of. That's as close to an answer as you'll get from me. ;^)

Ash:

Ack. I guess if I had to pick one it would be Quake 2, but they were all great. I just enjoyed the fast gameplay of Q1 and Q3 most.

Spyke:

Q1. Just not the kind of gameplay I like. Single player was fun though. I still have nightmares about Quake. Can somebody out there hold me?

Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me! Pretty please? I'll give you money! LOTS of money!

Spyke's Profound Thought

After mucking about with video cards, I actually got Baldur's Gate working on my friend's system, and it's about time I get it running on mine. Then I'll be skipping school in order to finish it and the expansion pack by the end of the month. I looked at picking up Nocturne the other day, and to my horror, my local store is still selling it for 70 dollars. Eeek. It's less than a month until I buy my new system and start whooping all your asses at RA3. Mwahahaha.
