PQ In Review: A Week Full Of Fun

News

The week kicked off, like it does every week, with our three "of the Week" features, the Levels of the Week, Model of the Week (Flat Eric), and the Mod of the Week (Invasion). Wednesday saw the PQ Poll continue its neverending task of asking questions; the results of the previous Poll are there too, with all that GSI/PQ crew commentary that you know you love. We went all retro with Dear Mynx this week, as we pored through the archives and came up with a list of Mynxisms, essentially a glossary of all the whacked out terms Mynx uses to describe everyone's winky. Then we had the winners of the Quake 3 Message Contest, who managed to win themselves some swank GameSpy swag. Last weekend, Pappy made the trip to Toronto to check out the Canadian Cyber Championships, one in a string of tournaments that serve as qualifiers for the BattleTop world tourney in Korea. Here's Pappy's CCC Diary! Lee'Mon and L33t'M0n continue their verbal slapstick affairs in this week's PQ Mailbag, featuring all those things you've come to love, that I started. Just remember that! Love2Play continues her "helping everyone" phase with this week's TechMailbag! We're just waiting until she becomes hardened and resentful like the rest of us.

Coming Soon

Coming up in the next week, we may actually have that fabled Gauntlet I've been talking about for the past month or so. Lee'Mon will check in with the latest chapter of Generations; you can't force this type of creative genius, people. Don't be surprised if Pappy checks in with a FtHS, or some other feature. Add that to the (game add-on) of the Week, Mailbag, Poll, TechTips, Dear Mynx, and that's one wicked week here at the Big Fuzzy!

Question of the Damned

I was racking my brain this week, trying to think up a question suitable for asking my colleagues; I was doing this whilst watching the Olympic Men's Triathalon, which lasts damn near two hours. Then it hit me: I would ask the other monke.. um.. staff here at PQ: "What's the longest consecutive time you've played Quake for?"

Pappy R:

26 hours!! All three Quakes at one sitting.

Hellchick:

4 hours, I think - it was like I started playing, and suddenly it was bed time.

Lee'Mon:

Over 12 hours. I had to call in sick to work due to lack of sleep.

L33t'M0n:

I've been playing Quake constantly since 1957.

Spyke:

10 hours or so, in a warehouse with 300 other people, and the temperature was around 36 degrees Celsius. There was a puddle on my chair when I got up.

Ash:

[Trying to break the world record for longest consecutive time playing Quake]

Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me! Pretty please? I'll give you money! LOTS of money!

Spyke's Profound Thought

So I'm in the market for a new computer. One that can play damn hell ass fast games, as I've got a semi-pathetic system right now. I got a quote the other day from a local place, and it's close to $3000 Canadian. Anybody want to cut me a deal? And, an actual question here.. where do you all buy games online? I'm looking for a place that's hella cheap; the same local store still has Nocturne for the price it was when it came out. Can a white boy get some help?

- Spyke
