Did you miss me? Well, not me, but this paragraph? There was none last week! So I'm just wondering if you miss it at all, because more often than not, it has no point and is just an excuse for me to ramble on and on. So here's PQ in Review!
The week, as always, began with the three features you all have come to expect; the Levels of the Week, Model of the Week (Padman), and Mod of the Week (Western Quake 3). The PQ Poll came stumbling around the corner again, asking all the important questions (they're good this time, I swear) that you want to know. Of course, the GSI/PQ crew gives their commentary. After much waiting, because you can't force creative genius, we have Chapter 8 of Generations! Yes, the marvelous novella authored by our own Lee'Mon continues, giving you that same suspense, intrigue, and excitement you'd expect. Ever get owned so bad you just wanted to crawl in a hole and die? That's exactly what the Quake 3 Top Ten Embarrassing Moments is for. That's right, we count down all the things that make your digital face blush. Lee'Mon busted out with this week's PQ Mailbag, in the way that only he and L33t'M0n can. The inaugural Big Fuzzy Focus appeared, giving the royal scoop on the Classic CTF release, including pictures and a feature list! The last in the TechTips series Building Your Own Gaming Rig popped up on Saturday, covering formatting and installing Windows, among other things.
Coming up in the next week or so, we've got another From the Hardcore Side courtesy of Pappy R, as well as a continuation of the new feature, the Big Fuzzy Focus. Lee'Mon's got an editorial coming up, on changing gameplay in point releases (gee, what brought that on?). We were supposed to have KillCreek guest host for Mynx, and I'd anticipate that coming up this week. Add that to all the regular oh-so-fun features like the Mod, Model and Levels of the Week, the PQ Poll, the PQ Mailbag, and TechTips, and that's one jam-packed week!
Question of the Damned
What with the brouhaha that's been going on over the past few days about the 1.25 point release, I must ask: "Have you downloaded Q3A version 1.25, and if so, do you like the new features?"
The way the bots work in teamplay and CTF kicks butt. The Score Plumes are spiffy, but I guess that will lose it's appeal after a bit. It's pretty cool, but there are drawbacks and broken features right now that make me run both versions.
I downloaded it, but haven't checked out the features yet. I will say, though, that I really think that complaining about the shooting-through-floors bug is a lot of whining. If you're really a pro player, you'll adapt your strategy and be just as good.
Yep... I'm willing to have my mods broken for a few days; maybe I'll get some work down around here. ;^) Liking the new stuff so far... particularly the Team Arena weapons that were accidentally left in. [wink]
I tried it out, and most of the new features are great. The changing heads kind of weird me out, love the bots. I ended up going back to 1.17 for now though, for mod support.
Well, I've downloaded it, but I haven't installed it yet. It's sitting on my desktop, staring me in the face. I'm too scared to install it.
Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me!
Spyke's Profound Thought
So I'm finally getting my new system soon, from a local place. It's going to be the ultimate in ass-kicking. Well, at least that I can afford. Hopefully by the time I get it, RA3 will be working with 1.25, and I can pw33n you all. I've also got to find a place I can get games cheap online. Any suggestions?
