PQ in Review
Spyke recaps last week and all the things you may have missed! - by Spyke

PQ In Review: It's Outz0r!

Yes, yes, baby! This week, and forever more, PlanetQuake is dedicated to Quake 3 Arena! While it's in stores as I write this (Friday), the full release for North America is this Sunday, the day this article goes up. Also, word has it the worldwide release is December 15th, that's for Europe and the rest of the world (including Australia!). We'll have a veritable shootload of news related to Q3A next week, but for now, enjoy what happened this last week!

News

Of course, the biggest news is that Quake 3 Arena has gone gold and is finally on store shelves in stores throughout the United States and Canada. Yippie! Our Mod of the Week was another retro-mod, L-Fire CTF! More goodies for all you teamplay fanatics, I guarantee! Ratamahatta, an evil looking sort of thing was our Model of the Week. By the way, starting next week (as you'll see down below), we'll have Q3A models! Excelsior! Continuing the weekly controversial editorials for which I sort through much mail, LeeMon sent the NIMF a report card, and it's not looking too good. Hellchick bored us all to tears again with the weekly PQ Poll, asking silly questions about Fargo and QuakeCon2K, yawn. Our dear Mynx (har har) advised people on such various topics as masturbation, pleasuring males, and Graeme Devine. I'm sure Graeme's thrilled that his career has taken him this far. This week marked the return of the event that I, in a roundabout way, obtained this job through listening to, the PlanetQuake Friday Frag! People played Q3A, heard wicked music, and listened to Shaithis ramble. Let's hope there's more, because then you just might hear my beautiful voice! Well, after I'd been prophecizing it for two months, Q2PMP finally relaunched as Polycount! To celebrate this, Hellchick got on the old tin can and interviewed the Polycount crew! I continued my weekly ritual of sorting through reader's ramblings and finding some choice juicy nuggets with this week's PQ Mailbag. There's 3 failed pics in this one! Visit! Please? Again as usual, we had some choice Levels of the Week for Quake 1 and 2.. who knows, maybe in a few weeks, you'll start seeing Quake 3 levels in there! Heard on the Quake 2 soundtrack, pimped on the Friday Frag. Hellchick had the pleasure of interviewing the enigma that is Sonic Mayhem, about their new project, Quake 3 Arena: Noise and the funky, drunken monkeys in their studio. On Saturday, Love2Play busted out with the tweaking and the cranking in this week's TechTips! Finally, last but not least, LadyICE, who I'm sure is just doing this to tease me about not having Q3A yet, posted a whole shootload of beautiful screens from Q3A, from every single level at that! Mad propz to LadyICE for taking the time to do that.

Coming Soon

Coming Wednesday, AntiBotics day at PQ! We're going to talk to the people who code antibot mods and such, as they do so much for the community, and Dekard at Antibotics wants to give them props. We're featuring HK's HK001 and drone models for Q3 as Models of the Week! And of course, the usual Mod of the Week, Mailbag, Poll, Dear Mynx, and the second TechMailbag!

Question of the Damned

Well, we're back to the regular format this week, as the format we tried two weeks ago didn't work at all. Oh well, que sera, sera.. Thee Question: "What game packaging would be even cooler than the tin box for Q3A?"

Hellchick:

A package that's like the Hellraiser cube -- you have to figure out the puzzle in order to get into the box and get the game! Also, it shoots deadly poison darts if you hit the wrong panels.

Pappy-R:

A soft flesh like plastic looking like stretched flesh. "Book of the Dead" type of thing. Yeah I need help, but it's so expensive I thought I'd stay ill.

Spyke:

Well, for Q3A, I think a giant pyramid, with a giant trophy at the top, filled with bricks and bags of water would be cool. You'd have to get a forklift to pick it up. It'd also be made out of black glass. You'd have to smash the glass to get the game out. Yeah, that'd be cool.

Spyke's Profound Thought

The denizens of PlanetQuake (well, just me and Pappy-R) are wondering something. We wish to challenge our mortal enemies, the evil PlanetHalfLife, to some sort of competitive multiplayer first person shooter, to prove once and for all who is the l33t3r. However, we (of course) want Quake, and they (of course) want Half-Life. Both sides realize that playing either game would be fairly one-sided. So what do you suggest we play? I, myself, am shooting for Nerf Arena Blast, as I absolutely pw33n in that game. Answer me!
