2 players, 1 computer
there a way to have two separate configs that are easily switched
between. My mom and I are getting tired of always changing
the player model.
way to do it is to make a config for each of you. Each with
your own settings, movement binds, player name and model etc...
Then you make a shortcut for each player based on the config.
Say yours is kid.cfg and hers is mom.cfg, then each shortcut
would be personalized like so: right click on the quake3.exe
file in your Quake III Arena folder and choose create shortcut.
Then right click on the shortcut and choose properties. In
the Target field you would add "+exec kid.cfg" (without
quotes) Make sure there is a space after the quake3.exe. It
would look like this: "C:\Quake III Arena\Quake3.exe"
you would follow the same procedure for Mom. Now
you each have a shortcut to execute Quake 3 with your own
you are both also playing online, the perfect program for
you is GameSpy3D.
It allows you to choose a Player Profile and each Profile
can choose a model and custom config. It is available in shareware
and each of you are welcome to your own copy of it as well.
You make the choice. It will give you thousands of servers
to choose from and launching your game with your custom settings
is as easy as can be.
Where is the CTF Info?
this may sound dumb, but I've been playing Quake for years
and years, and have recently started playing Quake CTF (orig.),
however, I cannot find any sites which cater for this specifc
mod (there are half life CTF sites, etc, but no Quake CTF
sites as far as I can see). I want to know if there are any
good communication scrips out there, and importantly, how
the heck you play sounds that people send accross the network
- for example a team communication might say "help needed
at flag #def ~def.wav" It seems that people are using some
sort of command to play a sound byte, but I can neither hear
it, nor know how to send my own. - How is it done?? Thanks
this one threw me way off! I thought that CTF was the most
popular and easiest to find mod in Quake! Let me throw out
a portion of the list of resources for CTF:
Guide to CTF
CTF - at Frag.com
CTF Downloads page (has
20 CTF mods-each with file downloads)
of course there is always the Planetquake Quake 2 modifications
section listed on the left hand side of the screen in the
menu - called Modifications.
for the sounds, you cannot hear them because sound files do
not send through the server. Any sound files are for your
ears only. If you bind a key to play a wav file, only you
will hear it. Take a look at Joe Manio's configs for CTF,
they are excellent.
Quake 3 CTF maps
i was looking through your q3 ctf level guide and saw three
levels i wanted but could not find on your web-site. They
are: 1) q3wctf1 "bloodlust" 2) q3wctf2 "Courtyard Condum"
3) q3wctf3 "Finnegan's Revenge" It would be off great help
to me if you could send theses levels to me as an attachment,
or give me an internet URL.
are Zoids CTF maps in the Threewave map pak. You can get it
Quake 3 Console commands
there a Quake 3 Arena console command that can give players
a certain item and amount? For example... If I'm hosting a
game and I want everyone to start out with a railgun with
full ammo, or a shotgun with 20 shells, or a grappling hook
whenever they spawn (or respawn) into the game.
you are looking for is the Beryllium
mod for Quake 3. This mod allows you to customize your server
to supply certains guns or ammo, runes (power ups) the grapple,
whatever you would like. They also supply some example configs
and have a FAQ and documentation page with great explanations.
Piece of cake to use! Check it out.
Quake 3 models
am not sure if you are who I should contact, but I was wondering
what programs are supported for Quake 3 model making. Thank
you in advance. Steve
again, the Planetquake menu on the left is a beautiful thing...
In the Quake III Arena section, there is a listing under Add-ons
There you find a list of hosted sites that offer you tutorials,
resources and even more links than you could imagine.
of our finest sites for this is Polycount.
Famous the Quake World over for the offering of skins and
resources. A definite must see!
