pbbbt, our site's embed technology is so bad-ass it will even "invent" a player if you just post a url to the proper file type. I didn't know it would go that far. I fixed the player style. It was inheriting a little bit from other elements.

For anybody that may not understand what happened in talisa's post, all she did was post a link directly to an .mp4. No special code or anything, literally just the url.

I'd like to post some progress on my Quake mod soon.

It's not a really big one like AD.It's something like a minimod.

@talisa

That grenade launcher looks nice.

If you could post the link,then maybe I could.....

Many things to do.

@OneMadGypsy

Sounds cool! I'd like to know,what files are supported to date?

I'd like to all formats,not just video.

Also,if you want to,can you please try adding a MIDI editor?

@mr-burns

Space boobs? Where?

@Talisa: Thank you, that's very kind and of course I would give you credit for anything I would use. You put the work in so should absolutely get some recognition for it   :-)

I'm pretty hopefless at Modelling but I managed to put something basic together for the purposes of testing. I know its pretty hopeless compared to the work shown here by yourself and Admer, but it will be enough to get the code robust enough to work as needed. I just have to "plumb it in" to my little project and make it work.....

In any event thank you for the kind offer.

Warm regards

Monty.

I think your gun looks great, Mr Burns! The screenshots are looking really good, too! Good work, old chap. ;)

I wrapped your images in a lightbox for you so people can click them and see them fullsize. I really need to go dick around in the code, find the spot where embed code is handled, and change it to simply auto-wrap images in a lightbox. I will but, not yet. I am making a lot of progress on my plugin and I don't want to stop.

@mr-burns

tossed both weapons your way in a PM. hope they're any kinda usefull to you.
feel free to use them, rip em apart to use pieces & generally do whatever with them,
as long as you dont give the original files to anyone & give me full credit for the models,
preferably through means of an included credits txt-file that you include with your mod

i made both models for fun and have no intent to actually sell them or such.

I may have not visited the site in the past few days. But no no no, I'm not dead, not yet. :D

@ijaaz

Take a look at Space Boobs*:

*no milk included

Anyway, I've got something to show. I once worked on a The Specialists map called ts_untergrund (should mean "underground" in German), but as you all know, my hardware limitations prevented me from further work.

It was perhaps one of the most open maps of all GoldSrc games. Maybe. Not as vast as Desert Circle for Sven Co-op, but this thing has hilly terrain and whatnot.

So I came back to it in July this year, but once again my hardware failed me. Or rather, my patience. I can't wait 2 days non-stop for something to finish compiling. Now that I have my new PC, I decided to go for it again:

Tomorrow's episode: optimising the living hell out of this portal hole. :D

And I might as well show a little big project that I'm working on in a team.

[/su_lightbox]

Or maybe just a glimpse of it. It'll be a game soon enough, expect it in a couple of years. For now it's just the technical part, getting some basic things right, like movement etc.

Since I never really used UE4 until now, I decided I should start somewhere.
So I started by adding a sprinting function, as well as adding an FOV changer to it. I like the way it's going for now, even though it's spaghetti code at the moment. (or seems to be)
I wandered for hours, thinking how to make the while loop work without creating an infinite loop (while loops are dangerous anyway), and for loops just won't make the cut since they pause execution until they're done by themselves. So I realised, I could make a custom loop, LMAO. As a beginner, I'm proud of myself. ;)

You have a lot of projects going on. Don't forget to live some life, too. I edited your post so your image will be clickable for full size viewing.

My life is Half-Life, though. :P

Jokes aside, don't worry. I go outside too. It's nice, especially where I live. A beautiful countryside waiting to be explored. Sometimes I visit the neighbours. It'll change once high school starts again. Then I'll probably spend most of my time studying.

I do have many projects though. I start working on a map, then my progress slows down. After that, I start working on a rifle model, finish some of it, then I lose motivation again. And then I try learning something new, and it goes really well, but then I remember, I've got projects to finish. And it's a vicious cycle. But the good thing is, things get done sooner or later.

@admer

hehe sounds just like me... i always have loads of stuffs in the works and
frequently randomly start on new things while im still not done with other items

and i mostly end up having half a dozen items in the works and
finding it difficult to finish a single one cuz of finding other things to make and
the pressure of all the stuff i have laying around half-finished at the same time

.

i eventually always finish everything i start on though, although it tends to take a bit longer
as i have trouble staying motivated & having to divide my attention between so many projects at once

as a pro though, having so much different items in the works at the same time keeps my work varied
and keeps things from feeling like a grind of doing the same thing over and over all the time

.

and from time to time i tend to put things down and do something completely different
like making textures for quake or doom, or make a replica of an item from a game i love.

just to keep things from starting to get boring if i focussed to much on a specific type of item lately

Funny thing is, this map I'm working on, ts_untergrund, was made a long time ago. I made it and released it in 2016, so it's technically finished. What I'm doing now is just an update. A big update. The map deserves it anyway.

So in reality, most of my current map projects are maps that my laptop couldn't handle when they were 50% done, so I worked on other things until I got my new PC. And now it's a situation and a half: I've got young and promising projects with fresh ideas, and I've got old projects which I swore I'd finish. But everything in its own time, I guess. :3

ts_untergrund is going really well. Only 2 or 3 things remain, one of which is to make a helicopter model to replace the brush-based one. Finally. ^w^

That's looking pretty damn sweet, Admer. That "access denied" shot looks weird, though. Where are the shadows? I feel weird saying that to you cause I'm sure you can see that there aren't any shadows (none that you would expect, anyway) and I'm assuming it's just unfinished. The "access denied" panel looks like it's floating in space.

@OneMadGypsy

That's because it's a screenshot from the map editor, where the map isn't compiled. :P
I don't think it has shadows in-game either due to the poor lightmap resolution. I could always fake them, though.

I've also started making a replacement model for the brush-based helicopter:

Now THAT is unfinished. :D

(render)

1500 triangles. For my first helicopter model, this probably isn't too bad. At this point I can compile it with a placeholder texture and see how it fits the map:

(in-editor shot)

I've also added a mounted machine gun in it. ^^

just finally after months of having it laying around in a half-finished state finished this one swimsuit
[su_lightbox type="image" src="https://i.imgur.com/4RrFUzF.png"]Image[/su_lightbox]

includes versions made for wearing with or without tail
[su_lightbox type="image" src="https://i.imgur.com/2uxG4x6.png"]Image[/su_lightbox]
the tail-version has an extra pair of strings that wrap around the base of the tail,
instead of the single thong-like string that the no-tail version has

The mesh is done, the UV maps are done, the animations are done, all but the texture. (currently using multiple 256x256 and 512x512 UV map templates) Maybe I could improve the windows on the sides. They look a bit odd.
I think I might finish it this week. And while making this transparent GIF in GIMP, I discovered how (optimised) animated GIFs work. So cool. :D

And wow, Talisa, that's really nice-looking. owo

@helicopter
I see at least one Ngon. You should definitely get rid of it. It looks like it's a pretty pointless Ngon. Just snap the vertex to the vertex at the 4 o' clock position from it. The side also looks like a big mess. It's a rigid body so it probably won't be that big of a deal but, from a "finished" stand-point, You aren't finished. Clean up those edge loops.

If you don't know what an Ngon is (I'm actually assuming you do but, for the sake of being thorough) it's a polygon with more than 4 edges. You have at least one in that image, which means you probably have at least 2 (assuming you modeled that with a mirror). If you do have 2 (mirrored) and you really need that little tweak there, just draw and edge from one to the other, done.

Overall it's pretty good, though. It just needs like 10 minutes of love and it will be a solid model.

I guess I tricked you. It's not an n-gon. It's not the actual wireframe either. It's just a texture.

This is the wireframe. On the front part there are clearly no n-gons except for that wheel, but the whole thing gets converted to tris anyway.

But when I look at this, I have stuff to see. There still is some stuff left to improve, but I'll get there soon enough. :3
