You might say that the release of Q3Test for the Mac and Linux stirred up "some feedback".
You might also say the Great Wall of China is "pretty big".

What!!!! After all we PC users have done for Id Software (ie making them
rich with our hard earned $$$) , they SPURN US by releasing Q3Arena test for
the MACINTRASH before our beloved PCs? What's up with that? You know...if
they like Macintosh soooooooo much, maybe they should just program
exclusively for it. I'm sure the other vendors wouldn't mind at all.
Quake3 Arena? I think now I shall wait for Unreal Tournament, or
maybe a REAL game base on the Q3 engine. I'm getting tired of paying for
software and having to patch it with 20 MB patches anyhow.

It really doesn't suprise me that id released the q3
test for mac first and people that have pc's can't
really bitch about it anyways, they are the ones that
shot themselves in the foot. If it wasn't for some lammer
that pirated the pc q3 alpha we might have got it a
little quicker. Im sure that's not id's only reason for
the release but I'm sure that it contributed to the fact.

I cant beleive Carmak, he releases test of quake3 on the LINUX and
cmon , what about us PC users. only the majority of America uses a PC
and so does most of the world. What the hell is he doing. man how many
of us loyal quake fanatics went out and bought those quake
games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A hole $h!t load of us bout them and now he is
doing this to us . WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON JOHN
CARMAK......................WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder how long it'll be until we see a lawsuit against it for the mental anguish
they've caused by delaying Q3Test. Wait...that's not funny...don't go getting any

I was just wondering if you guys knew anything as to when the q3 test
for windows is comming out. (hopefully soon) i have been awaiting
the release for sooo long and i even downloaded a mac emulator to play
(no worky) anywase let me know if you have any idea.
Wish I knew. We had a lot of people write us and tell us about various hacks you
could do to get the mac version of Q3Test to run on a PC. Since half of these
techniques advocated piracy, and all of them created a version of Q3test so unlike
the true version it was ridiculous, we haven't posted any of them (nor will we).

I'm a longtime Mac user who bought a PC for games like Quake II, and
HalfLife. Ironically, my Dell is a laptop, but my old PowerMac now sports
a Voodoo2 ...which I can use with Q3A with a fantastic Mesa Library I found
off opengl.org . Fast, beautiful, and I can't wait for folks on other
platforms to get a copy so the fragging can begin. You can color code your
weapon effects, and even the bullet richochets leave trails of orange
translucent sparks. The new railgun effect looks like DNA from the 5th
dimension --- and the zoom targetting? Standard for all weapons, and even
more satisfying with the incredible graphics.
q3test2 is an incredible bounce fest, while the textures and arches in
q3test1 makes one pause to admire them, as if in a museum rather than a
I am humbled with awe and gratitude.
Most of our Mac readers were very excited about the release, and also very good about
not going "HaHa! We got it first", which should make all of you irate PC users feel
a bit better. Personally, I'm glad people are enjoying it. I'd certainly like to see
a PC version ASAP, but I'm not that upset over the Mac and Linux releases coming out
first. In matters like this, I certainly trust Carmack's judgement.

I just thought i might give you guys my two cents worth.
well.. i reckon they only released the quake 3 test for mac only because
they didnt want to put PC users through the pain of seeing quake3 with
bugs.. anyway i have seen the test and im happy to wait. Anyway.. the
sites looking dandy but i never look at the news section so i was just
hoping you guys might make sure (if you're not already) to put links to
the news or articles if there is anything majorly interesting or
whatever..also.. the pic of the day is starting to turn into
advertisement for mod of the day or somethin.. i liked the funny pics
better.. but i guess there are only so many funny pics you guys can put
on until everything is done..
keep up the good work
We try to fit in funny pics when we can, but we don't always have them available. Personally, my
favorite pics are when we get really incredible artwork by guys like Dhabih Eng or Steve Garofalo,
but that's probably due to my being an artist myself (tho in their league).
