Mix: I'd like to think in a few years I'll be chillin' in front of the tube watching the Quake IV All-Pro Tournament Finals with a big bowl o' popcorn, but I don't see it happening.
Gestalt: I think Quake could become a spectator sport one day .. and you can be sure that if it does, PlanetQuake will be there giving you the best live coverage!
China: Some players are just incrediblely fun to watch; I'd love to see it a spectator sport.
Gestalt: Yup .. watching Thresh in action at Quakeadelica was a revelation. I can see the attraction of watching Quake as well as just playing it now.

China: Kind of a loaded question to ask on PlanetQuake... :)
Gestalt: It'll be fun trying to run this question a year from now when we have Half-Life, Sin, Shogo, Quake Arena, Daikatana, Blood II etc to add to the list...
Fargo: I'm torn. For straight DM I still love QuakeWorld better. Generally Quake II has the best mods ever written, though. Best game of all time? Both of em!
Mix: Marathon owned me. Best story by far of any FPS I've played.
Gestalt: Doom has that special place in my heart, but Quake II is what I play the most. And can someone please own up .. who the hell voted for Alien Trilogy?!?

Mix: Got the Reckoning... Nice cliff walls. (don't I notice obscure things?)

Fargo: Co-op play is a blast for "non-gamers" who don't like getting blown up all the time. You want to introduce someone to Quake? Play a co-op game and help them move around and kill monsters. It's a great way to ease them in.
Mix: Co-op is highly underrated, especially with more than two people.
Gestalt: Can't say I've ever tried it... Sounds fun though.

China: I'll play the other games; I'm looking forward to multi-player Shogo. But I think w/ Quake 3 looming on the horizon, it's going to end up taking up a lot of my time.
Mix: I'll try 'em all, see what sticks.

Fargo: Asking this question in 97 was laughable. ;)

Mix: Considering Quake II runs eons better on my antiquated system than Unreal, definitely Q2.

Which is why Unreal was a little disappointing, and Quake III Arena will probably be a bit hollow. Gestalt: Heh .. yup, the scariest thing is how many more people are voting in our polls today than 18 months ago. ;-)
Mix: Depends on what your definition of "camping" is...
China: IMO, waiting for a weapon or armor in DM mode 1 is valid. You gotta get the goods. But hard-core camping is not only a wussy cop-out, its really weak DM strategy. One nice grenade lob and you're out!!
