PQ In Review: It's All About the Hurtfulness

Welcome once again to the only article that gives you the scoop on everything that's gone on at the bastion of Quake entertainment that is PlanetQuake; PQ In Review! This week,as always (well maybe not always) was a great big week at the Planet, so let's get it on (and let's get your minds out of the gutter) !

News

Well oh boy, do we have a giant week of news to get through! The Man (tm), John Carmack, made a couple of .plan updates this week, addressing his worklog, which had in it notes of cool updates to Q3Test, and one addressing a whole bunch of techie stuff regarding Q3A and OpenGL. Not to be outdone, that wacky FMV-game pioneer Graeme Devine made a .plan update too, talking about the grappling hook and bots in Q3A. We (of course) had a new Mod of the Week, Matrix Quake 2! Also, we had a new weekly-feature-that-also-starts-with-"mod", the Model of the Week, from the pmps at Q2PMP! And, yet again, we had more (and more, they just seem to keep multiplying) Levels of the Week. Lowtax got up off his 450-pound patootie and blessed us with a new PQ Poll. We got lectured on poop and older women in the latest Dear Mynx! And another one gone, and another one gone.. Geezer rode the Q3A bus! Ever wanted to kick the crap out of GSI employees? Sure, we all have at one point or another. Do so in your favorite 3D shooter by utilizing the handy-dandy GSI/PQ server list! We've got servers for Q1, Q2 (and mods), and Q3Test! The absolutely wicked Harvest Map Pack is on 2 of those servers, showing off the totally insane maps included in this pack. It's worth it just for "Moebius Trip", trust me.

And now, for the big news. That's right, along with a new version of GameSpy 3D, well.. just check it out for yourself.

Coming Soon

Coming soon, Lowtax tells me what's coming soon. Ah, there we go, I told you it was soon. Only a few things coming up this week, as everything in the world happened this week. Navy Fortress and the Nehahra Project, two new absolutely wicked mods (more wicked than Afro Thunder). Also, we've got a model pack lined up for October with the help of the pmps at Q2PMP. Oh, and there's a really big, really cool thing happening the week after next. With a picture of God, or possibly Hitler. But Hitler isn't cool, remember that. M'kay?

Question of the Damned

And yes, they are damned. Didn't you know that the GSI offices reside deep inside the 7th layer of Hell, just next to where Jimmy Hoffa and Hitler have their offices for the Underground League of Satan? You didn't know? Damn, you out of the loop. And the question is: "What is the origin of the upper left corner messages?"

Fargo:

This reinactment should suffice:

Fargo: Hey Lowtax, how can we best explain to people the urgency of the bent wookie?

Lowtax: Hmmmmm.... [A light bulb appears over his head.]

Shaithis:

The origins are, of course, beamed to us from an advanced civilization light years away. They are encoded messages which, when deciphered, form the plans for a complicated device which can be used to turn our earth into a beautiful paradise. We decided to use them as random quotes instead, however, because some of them were too funny not to.

Lowtax:

We have a left corner now? That's what we get for buying the page on the installment plan.

Spyke's Profound Thought

Holy holiness, Batman! What're y'all thinking about the new GameSpy site? Pretty nifty, if ya ask me. Now that was profound there. Is 1 over 0 the value of infinity? Why did Windows have to crash and leave me without a computer for a day? Is Bill Gates really Satan? Send all your ideas for questions and things that should be covered in this article to me. None of that decaf for me, I'm stayin' up all night!
