Spyke recaps last week and all the things you may have missed! - by Spyke

PQ In Review: This Is Supposed To Be Funny

News

Even though we had no Mod of the Week, I'll still start you off with the weekly stuff; our Levels of the Week, and Model of the Week, Kern! This week's Rants & Raves had to do with those crazy video card drivers that let you see through walls, and how much they suck. We got great responses from all the PQ crew, so it's a must-read. Our lovable Content Manager Ash got himself skinned, and posted the results of the Skin My Ash contest. Unit23 won with his series of skins, which are completely outstanding. Thanks to everyone who entered! The latest Dear Mynx deals with birth control, speedos and perpetual stiffies. No, I'm not kidding. Does the PQ Poll ever stop asking questions? Oh, hell no! With questions on Team Arena and Hellchick ruling Mynx's bootay, this Poll is an eyebrow-raiser. Lee'Mon and Demonwench delivered a doozy, with a four page PQ Mailbag! That's right, chock full of feedback from Rants & Raves, Top Ten lists, and the usual crazy stuff, they manage to pull it off, and it's a must-read as well. This week's From the Hardcore Side features Pappy giving a guide to one on one play, using all the Q3A weapons!

Coming Soon

You folks may have noticed that some stuff you were expecting didn't happen this week, but we've got an explanation; Pappy's computer went down. Here's word from our fearless leader on what's up this week: "Everything that didn't happen due to my loss of so much mail. Top Ten, Big Fuzzy Focus and a special couple treats I have in the works. Can you say "more swag"?"

Question of the Damned

I was downloading a bunch of Q3A maps the other day, and it occured to me that there are lots of great level designers in the community. Thus, I arrived at this week's Question of the Damned: "If id Software could hire one level designer from the community, who would you want them to hire, and why?"

Hellchick:

I'm really fond of Tigger-oN's maps -- he's the brainiac behind ..::LvL for those that don't know. Tigger goodness -- check it out.

Pappy R:

Me me me...screw you all, I'm off to Texas! Oh, this is a "what if" kinda thing? Nevermind. (/me unpacks)

Ash:

I would say "Firestarter" from the Rocket Arena 3 team. His ra3map1 is one of my personal favorites for great gameplay, and his latest Egyption multi-arena is great too.

Spyke:

Well, it's a little-known fact, but our very own Caryn "Hellchick" Law is a budding level designer. I'd want id to hire her just so the other level designers could have some relief from their work, laughing at her maps.

Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me!

Spyke's Profound Thought

Holy crud. Just spent half an hour playing the Alice demo, and while I'm not done yet, I must say I'm impressed. Alice herself is full of gothly goodness, and the environments look great. Hats off to American, and to the gang at Rogue. I'm going to be buying this one. Of course, I still can't run the Team Arena demo, and it's tearing me up inside! Oh yeah, Tekken Tag for PS2 is bloody amazing. Crazy consoles always seem to upstage us. What can ya do?
