Our week kicked off with the greatest contest known to man; the PQ Christmas Contest 2000! For maps, the challenge is to create the best Christmas and PQ themed level possible, for Team DM or CTF. For models, just make the best damned one you can! The winners in each category recieve a signed copy of Quake 3: Team Arena! How cool is that? Of course, after the contest, we had the Levels of the Week, Model of the Week, Wolf, and the Mod of the Week, Bazooka Quake 3! Lee'Mon kicked out one of his infamous editorials this week; "The Cart Before The Source" explores the thought that mods are getting more commercial, and it's harder to make a big splash with a simple mod. It's an excellent read, and food for thought. This week's Rants & Raves is all about the offhand grapple, and how much it sucks (sorry, couldn't leave my own opinion out of it). As usual, a wild rant from a reader provokes insightful discussion from us PQ types. Speaking of insightful discussion, you'll find none of it in the PQ Poll, where this week you're asked about.. um.. Quake. In the past week's results, you'll find less insightful discussion, as we pretty much rip on each other, and Mynx says "boobies" a lot. Speaking of Mynx, this week's Dear Mynx involves questions on porn addiction and sex changes. And I'm never kidding about this stuff. Lee'Mon and Demonwench continued to kick the asses of reader feedback in this week's PQ Mailbag! Demonwench continues to scare me. Love2Play kicked out another TechMailbag, answering all those technical questions that plague our readers!
Coming within the next week, we have amazing feats of wild wonder! Marvel at the clairvoyance of the PQ crew! Wait, that's embellishing it a tad. Hellchick's going to juggle for you! We've also got a Very Special From the Hardcore Side, a new Rants & Raves, the Top Ten list we didn't get out last week, and all the usual features that you've come to know and love!
Question of the Damned
So it's beginning to look like a large commercial holiday; I've been out shopping, buying games for people who aren't me, and hoping they do the same in return. I decided to ask my colleagues this question: "What three computer games would you like for Christmas/Hannukah/Insert Holiday Here?"
Team Arena, Alice, and Team Arena. One signed, one not signed. ;)
1) Team Arena..DUH!
2) NOLF so people can stop bugging me to play it 'cause they say it rocks.
3) There's really no #3 since I have all the ones that I want that are released but I was really hoping to see Return to Wolfenstein released for Christmas.
I really don't play anything but Quake, so Team Arena is the only game on the wish list this year.
Team Arena, the new Doom, and the Metroid game being developed for the Game Cube.
I'll have to go with the pack and say Team Arena. Other than that, definitely Alice, and at least one of the Blair Witch games.
Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me!
Spyke's Profound Thought
Team Arena went gold this week. Alice started appearing in stores. It's an exciting time to be a gamer, people! Dammit, Midtown Madness 2 is out! If there's anything that can wean me from Tony Hawk 2, that would be it. I'm like a little kid, just waiting for Christmas. I really don't have anything too profound to say right now. But just remember one thing; we are living in a material world, and I am a material girl.
