PQ In Review: No, I Don't Have Team Arena Yet

News

Quite a big week (in scope) we've had on our hands, so let's get started with the Levels of the Week, and Model of the Week, Massacre! This week's Rants & Raves was all about the video tweakage, and as usual, us PQ types bring our insight, and I personally manage to alienate at least a third of the community. The PQ Poll brought questions, as usual, about Q3A, Team Arena, and what l33tness is. Just for reference, it's me. This week, a Retro Dear Mynx was featured, with questions about strap-on dildos, straight winkies, and computers rather than women. Honest. The big feature this week is our Quake 3: Team Arena Guide, which is absolutely massive. With in-depth guides to all the new gametypes, weapons, powerups, and stuff you'll have to do, as well as tips for every single map, console commands, and tips from the id guys themselves, what more could you ask for? To go along with the whole Team Arena theme, Hellchick interviewed id level designer Paul Jaquays, getting the scoop on the maps for Q3:TA, how they're larger, and tips for other level designers. This week's From the Hardcore Side is all about 1.27g, and Pappy lets you know about known issues, and gets answers from id's Robert Duffy about those burning questions like "where the hell are my shaders?"

Coming Soon

Coming up this week, we've got the winners of our Christmas Contests, a Christmas Top Ten, and.. um.. I'm sure we have something special coming up. Oh, wait.. here we go, we'll have the id guys' Christmas lists; it's about the time the community gave back, and it's that time of year! We'll have all the regular features for your perusal as well.

Question of the Damned

Of course, since it's out, I had to ask: "Do you have Team Arena yet?"

Hellchick:

I had it before it came out. And no, I'm not a warez monkey -- I was a tester. But for the record, I went to the mall today to buy my retail copy and when it took 45 minutes to get a parking space, I went home and called the software store, which only had 1 copy and THEY WOULDN'T HOLD IT FOR ME. Not even because I'm Hellchick. See? Notoriety gets you squat.

Pappy R:

Yes, EB called yesterday morning that it was in and I had it loaded an hour later. It's just awesome!

Lee'Mon:

[Editor's Note: Lee'Mon is probably playing it right now]

Ash:

Picking up my copy today, now that my car isn't frozen in place. =)

Spyke:

Sigh.. not yet, but soon! I'll be getting it when I get my system that can run it. Tuesday, baby, Tuesday! :)

Remember, if you want to submit a Question of the Damned, just e-mail me!

Spyke's Profound Thought

That's right, I don't have Team Arena yet. But when I get my swank system on Tuesday, I'll pick it up. I really can't wait. If anybody out there has NHL 2001 for PC, let me know how it is; I got it for The Boy, and want to make sure it's good. Other than that, holy crap is the Team Arena Guide huge. Hats off to Hellchick, who already demands that no one wear hats in her presence. Remember everyone, eschew Christmas carols and just listen to Duran Duran all season. It's better for you.
