To download Jailbreak, there are a few easy
steps that you must follow. Once this is done, you'll be on your way
to fragging, freeing, and lots of button-pushing.
Delete the /jail directory under your Quake2 directory if you are
upgrading from a previous version. If you are not upgrading, skip
this step. This will avoid file confusion, etc. Make sure not to
delete the /maps directory or you will have to re-download the maps.
If you are a person who just wants to get on some servers and play,
you must download the 2.0 client pack. If you want to run a
server, you must download that as well as the 2.3a server pack.
Click one of the appropriate URLs below to grab it.
Use WinZip to extract the files.
Make sure you have "Keep directories" checked off when unzipping. Unzip
it to the Quake2 directory when you have this checked.
Once you have it installed, you can download the
Jailbreak Gamespy tab
(netscape users: right-click and save that) for GameSpy
to find Jailbreak servers, or use our web-based server list. Gamespy
is preferred. If you want to start the game manually, or create an
icon for it, start Quake2 like this: "quake2 +set game jail" (without
the quotes). Jailbreak also supports VWep,
the visible weapons patch. This is recommended to download. If you
don't get it, then you can't see what weapons the opponent has. For
additional support in running a server, how to play, etc., check out
readme.txt that comes with the client and server zips.
After you have JailBreak 2.5 installed, you can download and re-install
the great JailBreak add-on, JailBreak Gold, see the links below to
Jailbreak Client Pak v2.5
This is it! Includes 28 total maps, player models, sounds
textures, etc This is everything required to play JB on the
internet, use GameSpy to
find servers. 33 Megs
